Re: Caprasauridae's Lizardmen (Woogity's Custom Kroxigor!)

Thanks for the comment, guys! I'm at work currently, but I'll try to take some pictures with ranked up Skinks when I get home (seven or so hours from now). I'll also take a close-up picture of their faces, hopefully my phone's camera has good enough macro abilities.

They are pretty heavy, so I think they are solid. And the models don't have that many small/thin parts, so I don't think fielding them will be a problem. Of course you shouldn't drop them, but that goes for every model. The finger broke mainly because the flash between the fingers was stronger than I though. The material is also very frigid, not bendy at all like Finecast type resins, and thus smaller parts are more prone to snap if too much force is applied. If handled properly, these fellows should be quite durable. Am I contradicting myself here? Sigh, anyway, handle small parts with care, the body of the model can take some punishment. There was very little flash, much less than in typical Finecast models, and it was all in the hands of the model.

And very nice looking "Australian" (upside down) Steg you have there, Xlanax_lot!

    Ask and ye shall receive!

    Colossus amidst Skinks:

It took some time to find Skinks whose tails weren't in the way, but it's doable. Please note, that the Colossus pictured is the only crouching and forward leaning one, other two are standing upright, so it's much easier to rank with them. The weapon is not in the picture (a little tip: if you build your model and don't want to put the weapon on it yet for the ease of painting, don't glue the shaft to the weapon end yet. It doesn't fit through the holes in their hands anymore...) but it is high enough to go over the Skinks' heads.

Then some close-ups of the face of one of the unpainted ones:

Thanks Capra! He looks like godzilla
Looks good. However, will the great weapon clean up the skinks when it's placed in the krox's hands?

NexS1: I don't think the great weapon will be a problem, I tried to angle the weapon as the model was holding it and it rather easily went over the Skinks' heads. And other two models hold their weapons upright.

D4EMON: Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy these models soon.

It was a really fun model to paint. Though it was difficult to keep the necklace stay glued...

    Hope you guys like it!

    Much nice, very roar. Wow.

If i would offer a suggestion, i'd say run a watered down silver along the edges of the gold to make it look tarnished and worn.

    Thanks guys!

NexS1: I usually go for the worn out look, but this was the first time I used the P3 paint Solid Gold, and I was kind of mesmerized how bright it was, so instead of painting any further, I would just stare at it...

Thanks, Nigthbringer! I still need to work on my photo set-up, some of the pictures are unnecessarily yellow, but still I'm glad you enjoyed them.

Yeah, a brighter light source would definitely help us see your lovely painting work more easily. My photos suffer from the same thing, one of these days I'm going to make myself a proper photography light box.

The keys are: use two lights with a grey background. The photo/lightbox is not all that necessary. And the grey background can be a color. But, it needs to be a mid-value color (so that if you turned the photo mono-chrome the background would look medium battleship grey).

Another tip which is applicable to all hunched over minis: get the camera down or elevate the mini so the shot is close to the mini's eye-level. Looks much better, captures more detail (as seen in your middle shot).

Thanks for the tips, guys! Yeah, I think I just need to switch the light bulp to a white rather than "warm". I use my phone camera, as that is the only proper camera I have. To get low enough I turn the phone upside down, so that the lense is at the table level.

Not necessary... but very nice to have. Having light shine evenly from multiple sides is a big bonus. I think a lot of the best miniature pictures are taken using a light box.
