Oh my Old Ones, those things are terrifying.

I didn't enter, knowing I wouldn't have time to do a good job. If I'm going to compete next time I might need 6 months from the organizards.

@neveroddoreven gets my top vote for seamless mods and terrific colouring - I had a double take at the greenness of the gold bling then I realized that it was reflecting the green of the surrounding jungle. Superb.

@n810 gets the second gong for the menacing voodoo chief - why wouldn't lizards use scary war paint?

Would it be unethical for me to vote? I really like the pallete on Crowsfoot's Kroxigors.

I didn't get a chance to do a step-by-step in the end unfortunately. I just started my new job, and haven't had the time.

That's weird. I didn't put any green into the gold. I have had a few comments on some of my Infinity models, saying the skintones were too green. Must be my camera.
On the subject of the gold - it's non-metallic. I find it a lot easier to paint metals this way now, I never did get the hang of metallic paints.

One last fun fact - There's no green paint on that model! The skin was a mix of yellow and black.

Yes, vote! This is open for the whole forum!

I think the next time we'll let the entry period run a little longer so we can have more people participate. I also think we should use the amateur/professional categories to encourage people who aren't totally confident in their abilities.

Also I'd just like to point out that the one Diorama entry was pretty awesome. Gor-rok with a spear through his gut is pretty epic.

Thank you very much for your kind words.

When I read the fluff in the army book I had a vision straight away, my original idea which I may still do at some point was a group of dark elves and lizardmen all painted black with Gor-rok and the Dark elf victim painted but I could not use that in a game hence the single model.

How would it be determined which category one should participate in?

My view would be enter the category you feel you should be in.

but I would go for 3 Cats, beginner, intermediate and skilled, how you determine which you fit in could be along the lines off beginner, wash and drybrush experience, intermediate, layered highlights and shading, skilled blended tones with attention to detal.

Just a quick idea but plenty of scope for all abilitys.

Yeah, but I wouldn't know which one I would belong in.

Maybe Qupakoco should valuate one's choice, and possibly submit the entry to the right category if necessary.

Neither do I but it would inspire people to try and push their painting to the next level, maybe as you say entrys are judged and allocated into a cat after all the painter may decide to just do a base, shade on a model.

For example, Peek-A-Boo took me 55mins to paint he is only based, washed and then drybrushed 3 times with very little detail so I would class that as a beginner entry but the basing would push him into intermediate.

I'll have to see how other forums do it. I know the Golden Bat from the VC forums does categories like that based on the painter's own perceived skill and whether or not they have won a previous comp or not. For example, if you won the amateur category last time then you can't enter in that category again. Now you're intermediate or advanced.

:wideyed: How is that possibly... I sense witchcraft. No magical powers allowed in painting competitions! :) I just showed my wife all the entries and your model totally blew her mind! She said it looks as though it were alive.

Everyone should vote. Also I see nothing wrong with voting for your own entry (I probably would have voted for my own just to make sure I didn't end up with a goose-egg.... a.k.a. zero :()

That sounds good. I had hoped to make an entry... but I wasted too much time making a silly conversion. The conversion is done, but I haven't even started to paint it . Hopefully there is still an infantry/monstrous infantry category in the next painting competition (not that I stand a chance against such beautiful entries).

That sounds like a great idea! :)
Simple... if you think you stand even remote chance of competing with @neveroddoreven than enter in the professional category, if not then join the masses in the amateur division.

I was too bitter about the whole AoS thing to not really get any painting done, but now that I think about it I have a perfectly suitable Slann.

    It's too late isn't it? :D haha
