First off, here's what I'll be painting(possibly to disastrous effect), Metal Stegadon Metal Slaan 3 Metal Kroxigor Metal Skink Shaman 10 Metal Temple Guard 2 Metal Skink Priests 1 Metal Oxyotl 1 Metal Tehenuain(?) Never painted metal before, it'll be an adventure I'm sure. Try to base coat them tonight, I'll update with... updates.* *Unless inconvenient or I forget.
Or I'll prime half of them then go get pinning supplies when the arms fall off of the temple guard. yaaaaaaay.
Yeah! The metal effect! Had the same problem with my metal figures. Back when I first started and nowadays when stripping off the models an reassembling them. Seems like the metal sucks up the glue...
The most important part with metal is making sure they are really clean before priming, once primed they are exactly the same to paint as plastic. I would pva the base and add some sand before priming, saves you doing it once they are painted, although you may have different ideas for your bases.
I washed them after stripping the old paint job, so theyre clean. Could just be a case of my impatience, not waiting more than 2 hours for glue to dry.
What glue are you using? Araldite rapid is the one I use and sets in 10 mins max and creates a really strong bond.
Well, after acquiring supplies, drilling holes in metal and my finger(twice) and inserting metal rods my temple guard are literally rearmed, allowing me to paint something. I thought I'd take a stab at the slaan because its pretty small and 1 solid piece and unlikely to fall apart due to handling. After priming white I followed with some blues, resulting in the following. Yaaaaaaay my phone camera shines again! Closer is blurrier so I'll reconfigure in the daylight and try for a better picture.
