Hey y'all! I decid3e to make a paint log. My reason for finally making the log is that it might help me paint more. So basically I'm doing this for me rather than for you guys. I'm pretty new to the hobby still, do don't go expecting a lot . Bases are not done for any unit! I will be doing them all together when the army is finished. Feedback and some tips or pointers are always welcomed . My first paintjob I did was my 'Copperheads'. I started painting without even having a lot of paintchoices, the very reason for their name. Their Jav tips are copper with a little bit of black jungle poisen. Not very impressive, but my very first model painting in roughly 15years. Second unit I did are my Chameleon skink. These guys are painted red with black scales. The blowpipes are white. Since they are more then just skinks they got ivory blowpipes made of the finest steggie horns in lustria . Then I got to work on my saurus. A block of 30, the shields still need to be done ( they are basecoated and waiting for their paintjob).they are pretty sober since at the time of making I just didn't want to screw them up. So I took the safe path. Body is TG blue, scales are Teclis blue.
And now since beginning of september I've been back at it. I did the finishing touches on the saurus and started doing other projects. First ones I did were my 2 steggies. For them I still need to do my skinkies and for the orange one, everything exept the steg himself.
About 3 weeks back I did my crox. For my skills.. I'm pretty damn happy how they came out. Small week ago I finished my Razerdons/Salamanders/snaks. The sally's were actually done like a small year ago.
Finally.. Yesterday I finished both ma Bastilladons (only the beasts themselves). 'Spots' and 'Stripes'. For my next project I've been thinking Slann or COR. In the end I'm going with the COR because I vould use some more practice before taking on my centerpiece of the amry. So pls comment and give feedback what you think might help me to up my skill lvl. Cheers
That is an awesome collection of great painted minis that you have created. I really like the orange and green handlers for the razordons. All the models look great but those handlers along with the Krox are my favorites. Keep the pictures coming!
Great job on the bastiladons! The patterns on their back are very nice. I also like the Razordons, the spikes look cool. Keep 'em coming!
So I've had some personal things going on preventing me from painting, but now I've been at it again! first up are my 2 Bastiladons I needed to finish. The pics were taken before a shade was done on the skinks. Then I did 26 skinks with javelins, 10 skinks with blowpipes ( no pics but same colors), and 6 more chameleon skink ( to get 16 of m, no pics) Some more finishing up then as I finally did the shields for my Saurus warriors. Lastly, I've done my first bit of 'converting' ( I suck at this hobby) with the champion of my saurus regiment. The shield was made from left overs of the Bastilladons. Just 2 pieces, sliced one of m, glued it to the other, and put a handle on it xD.
Very nice and very neat, can I suggest you give the saurus a wash with Drakenhof nightshade or Agrax earhshade, Drakenhof if you have it as Agrax will make them look dirtier, they just look a little flat without the shadow between the scales. Nothing major just a bit more detail if your upto it which I'm sure you are
I really like the look of this army! The Bastiladons look fantastic! The ark of sotek one looks so awesome!
Thx for the reply. Yes I know exactly what you mean... I really am bad with shades. Sometimes I use too much sometimes too little... with the saurus definatly too little. I will re-do them with a shade so thx for the comment! @Bowser thx. I really like yours . I showed m 2 someone at work who doesn't even know the hobby in my exitement just few weeks ago
That is a very common problem when starting out, another is using a colour too close to the base colour, you want a dramatic colour change in your shade and layer especially when your not blending layers. I have looked through all your blog and quietly away your a tidy little painter
Didn't have to work today so I was able to do 3 Terradon beasties... For some of the Pics my 'spot'light was on them, I real life the colours aren't as bright as the picture show. Think you can see the drybrush yellow on the wings wich give them some nice colours for me personally, makes me think a little bit about the early season 'fall' ( like winter, summer,...)
