We played capture the tower which seems to be a favorite of Archies, Board setup 6*3 tower opposite corners with a terrain feature in the centre forcing both armies either left or right.

    Seraphon

    Eternity Warden
    20 Saurus Guard
    Skink starpriest
    Basilidon
    Old blood on Carny
    8 Saurus Knights

    Ogres

    Butcher
    Stornhorn
    Tyrant
    3 Leadblechers
    9 Ogre bulls
    Giant

    Turn1

Nothing much apart from both side ran, Archie went right side with 6 bulls, Tyrant and Butcher, left side with Stornhorn, Giant, Leadblechers and 3 bulls.

I sent Bassy, Old blood and Knights left to counter his bulls and Tyrant while 20 guard, Eternity warden and priest went right to engage stornhorn and the giant.

    Turn 2

Archie went first again, he blocks the right path but fails his charge, left side stornhorn stays still and fires the harpoon missing, giant moves further left, bulls move in front of leadbleachers giving them a defence line.

I move old blood and charge his bulls,he kills 2, bassy is in range of bulls and beam kills 2, guard move then charge stornhorn, eternity warden and priest both fail their charges leaving my guard unsupported.
Guard take 6 wounds of stornhorn, priest inflicts 2 mortal wounds with his blast.

I win the roll and go next Archies face is sad and teary as he knows stornhorn won't survive the next wave.
I move up warden and priest they are now fully supporting my guard giving extra attacks which kill stornhorn and reduce Archie to tears, I tell him it's not over yet so keep positive.

Old blood finishes of the bulls while bassy charges Tyrant but inflicts no wounds (he is a tough B*****d)
Knights try to push on for the tower but fall short.

Archie fires Leadbleachers and kills 2 guard, his bulls charge and hit the guard hard, he moves the giant past and runs for the tower, he is now free only chance I have is winning the next roll off and turning my warden around to get the giant in combat.

Butcher engages knights and kills 4 with his attacks and spells.

    Turn3

Archie wins the roll and his giant strolls upto my zigguart and has a party, I tell him to think back to when he thought it was all lost when stornhorn died, next time I will put monster against monster and see how Archie counters that, he is slowly learning but he refuses to look at his army profile and work on synergising his guys maybe it's an age thing.

I might have to fully destroy him just so he can see how devastating synergy can be.

    ... oh yes!
    Spartan agoge.

P.S. Stonehorn VS Carnosaur and Giant VS Bastiladon would be epic. :wideyed:

Well seemed quite a bit closer this time! Even if you did pull your punches a bit! Still could have gone either way!

To be fair, Ogre's synergies are not even close to ours (or other armies').

True but he has 2 mournfang cav he could deploy instead of stornhorn, maneaters instead of bulls but it will come, I'm going to let him play Seraphon after a few more matches then he will have to look stuff up.
