Wow, those are really good deals.

If I wanted to start a new army I would surely buy one of those.

I just split the two player set with a friend of mine. He wanted the undead, I got the dwarves, which is 30 infantry (10x of each) and an artillery piece. For anyone who is unfamiliar with the mantic minis, I would say they lack some amount of detail, but I am not a precise enough of a painter for that to matter too much. I do have a few disappointments with them though.
First is they dwarves rank up worse than javelin wielding skinks with shields. They are just pretty wide models for a 20x20mm base so weapons must be kept close. Not sure how I am going to give them shields as they barely rank now.
Second, from what I have assembled (shield warriors), some of the hand poses seem to be a bit off (for the arms you can add). Not much in the way of extra bits by the end of assembly either, but that is OK. No standards, but that is easy enough to make yourself.
Gripes aside, if you like out of the box models, it is hard to argue with the price. Also, they did add some odd bits to use for unit fillers, such as a dead dwarf, a treasure chest, a dog, mugs, ect. With some paint I think they will look pretty sharp, worthy of fielding on any table.

Look at multibasing your units, you can space them alot better without the sq 20mm base, I built 50 of mine up today and I agree they have less detail and some do require a bit of fiddling to get them looking right but they are a stella deal and I am very happy with them so far, painting commences soon and the lack of fine detail is a blessing if you want a nice but fast painted army.

I have some AofW dwarfs and the mantic ones are easier to assemble by a mile.

But the AoW ones probably look better... those guys look awesome (at least from the pictures I've seen).

Note that the dogs are not a simple filler, they are used as a token to represent the Throwing mastiif upgrade to some units.

Also, for reference this is part of a dwarf army of Ronnie, the CEO of Mantic.

Note how even him use less models that required*, many people that multibase like that don't do it to save a few models, but because when well done it does looks good (it's even better for savage hordes of orcs or shambling undeads, where a nice ranked formation seems inappropriate).

*I count 9 models for the troop, and the regiment seems to have something like 15 models, and I remember seeing a photo of another regiment of his with 17 dwarves

All my multibase units have fewer than the required models but more than the recommended minimum, my dwarf army is going to be winter themed and some bases will have trees etc added, multibase allows you the freedom to do such things but I have made a couple of mistakes with mine.

Building regiments when I should build a troop and then use 2 troops as a regiment, but not a massive deal.

They do look more detailed but the Mantic models are good, just enough detail to look attractive when painted.
