Thanks guys, very kind words! Next in line is my skink priest.

I've used a lot of different paints over the years and actually Vallejo paints, just considering the quality of the pigments and the opacity, are the best paints out there by a long distance. The thing is they can't match Citadel in terms of colors and range, GW makes the most vibrant tones and has now the best paint system out there, my opinion of course.

It is true that Vallejo has a much wider range but for some reason their colors are just too dull. You can achieve the same results with both paints but if you are using vallejo you will end up mixing A LOT. Honestly I'm too old for that, when I painted competitively I used mostly Vallejo mainly the Air range with some colour from Citadel and Tamiya for the airbrush and effects. Also used oils paints but only in vehicles.

The best thing you can do is invest in your paints and your brushes too.

Is sadly still a Wip, I'm concentrating in the units I actually use for gaming first. Hopefully this summer will be finished.

Would you be able to provide a detailed list of brushes that every wannabe-serious-painter should own? There are so many different products and prices out there. As a consumer I'm afraid of getting taken advantage of because of my ignorance. For example, should I really pay $135 for the complete Citadel brushes set? Or would I be paying for a bunch of stuff that is redundant or useless?

I don't think the whole set is useless... You might just end up with some brushes you don't really need or you won't use... ;)
I guess you can find same or better quality brushes in artist shops for less than gw price... Even as set...
I mainly use four different brushes... Size 2, 0, 00, 00000 and one old 00 for drybrushing... Ok. That are five.;)

Windsor and newton series 7, size 3,2,1,0,000 buy these if you want top quality do not use them for drybrushing or doing base coats buy a GW base brush.

I've tried loads of make and N&W are the best, they last ages, have very good bristles and a very fine point, expensive expect to pay £14 per brush but worth every penny.

I do use GW brushes now but I don't think either the Base line nor the Shade line are really necessary. I actually own, the following:

    - ARTIFICER LAYER XS, S, M
    - DRY S, M, L

I find that the Dry brushes work like a charm to apply basecoats ans shade large models. I also won some ancient brushes that I still use most from a brand called Escoda Optimo Kolinsky and also some old brushes that I use for the rough chores (pick paint from pots, watering down, applying glue to bases, etc)

I've heard a lot about those brushes and they seem really good. The thing is to buy brushes of 100% pure Kolinsky Sable, I used to buy number 0,1 and 00 never needed anything else, in fact most of the time I used a 0 for everything including the finest of detail. As long as the tip is in perfect condition there is no need for a ultra fine brush (IMO)
