    Hey all!

Been meaning to start up this blog for a couple weeks now, so there will be a flood of pictures over the next couple days.

I'll update this primary post with models done and models needing to be done as I complete stuff - more as a goal list for myself than anything, but so you can see what I've still got left on the pipeline as well.

o_OCurrently on the bench: Stygiosaur, 2 units of ripperdactyls, 10+ Cold one cav, 10 skink braves, 1 skink captain, 2 Carno's (1 BSB), 2 stegs with blowpipes.

:eek:In waiting: 60+ saurus warriors, 10 + cold one cav, 80+ skinks of varying weaponry, steg with engine, 2 salamanders (yes, I sadly don't have my old pair anymore), Slaan, 5 skink priests, Bastiladon, and who knows what else.

Whew! Lots to paint, luckily most of it is already assembled!

Now that I've jabbered too much, here are some pics to get us started until I get home from work and can take some more of what I'm working on. :D

First up: My moral support and painting buddy, Merritt.

A piece of terrain I was working on to take a short break between assembling/priming models. It's about 40% done, if that.

My Ripperdactyl test model - still playing around with it. The wing patterns and such are tougher to come up with than I had thought they'd be.

WIP Ripper pics - Here you can see I'm going purple with one set, and though they look orange, the second set will eventually be highlighted to yellow.

WIP Stygiosaur (Troglodon) - The dark blue will actually end up a bright blue, while the orange and red will end up really bright as well. The plaques will likely be gold, but I'm waiting to decide on that until the bright colors are done. This is post initial washes. TIP: for anyone about to assemble and paint one of these... The collar is a total pain to line up correctly (there is a gap where it should connect), and it's even more of a pain to paint around. I highly recommend painting it separately if you can, but pre-fit it beforehand so you don't have to greenstuff it later.

WIP steg - It's a bit further along than this now, so I'll get another progress shot up here as soon as I can. I was trying a marbling technique out on the howdah (similar to what I did in the tower, though I actually did the tower after this howdah)

Cold one cav - Started in on the first ten mounts, but this is all the further i've gotten with them.

Lastly - My WIP blot toads, Phil and Rupert. I haven't really spent much time on them, so they'll get a little extra love down the road.

That's it for now. I'll have some more pics up hopefully later tonight or tomorrow of some of the other things I have in progress. Also - If you follow the link to my old blog, I will be likely recreating that scheme on my saurus and skinks again, as well as the same scheme for my Slaan and salamanders. (I sold the army to a local friend awhile back and only bought back some skinks and saurus, everything else is new)

    Thanks for stopping by! :D

This all looks so good! From the trog right down to the blot toads! The design on the test ripper is gorgeous. I love the colour scheme on the troglodon. The red cold one looks awesome! So much detail and precision.

    Also awww look at Merritt!

I really like the stone work on that stegadon and the blue on the wings of that ripperdactyl. Don't know how you keep so many projects on the go but keep up the good work :D

Great painting! Nice to see a new talent join the forum. A couple of questions:

    1) Is anything for sale?:p

    2) How many of your models has Merritt killed
how many battles have you fought?

    3) What kind of background are you thinking about for your army?

Thank you! Appreciate the kind words!

Thanks! Yes, hopefully I'll have some more pics for you guys tonight or tomorrow morning, though I won't get to paint again until Tuesday night.

Thanks! I don't know how I do either haha. Sometimes painting just becomes a mad house of whatever I get the feeling for.

I am definitely mad for sure... I've already started thinking about using the new sylvaneth beetle as a carno replacement in the future...

Hahaha. Thank you! Nothing for sale at the moment. I've only played a couple 9th age games so far, but I played LM in 8th for about a year before I sold them and bought a TK army. (which I still have and can put up pics at some point if people are interested in seeing them - though admittedly not all of it is painted hehe).

As for a background - I haven't thought about it too much, but the initial idea was to have a lot of varied units, lots of colors, and use the grey skin tone as the thing that brings them all together. Most of my lists are full of Monsters and fast models, so that's where the "swift justice" came from.

Surely "Fast food" would be better if it's mostly monsters?:D

Thanks! I'm not exactly happy with it (wish the lines were a bit more refined and less stark, but that'll come with practice), but I'll explain how I went about it.

I started with a base of The Fang. I then watered down a p3 paint called Frost Wolf or something along those lines (it's a very blue-white) and did a sort of wash over the base coat, letting it deliberately create odd lines and shapes across the surface, but it was still thin enough that The Fang still showed through. I then took that same blue-white and put it on a wet pallet to water it down slightly before going back and tracing along some of the formed shapes. The key with the wash and with the lining is to always go the same direction for the most part (sticking with the grain). You kinda want these lines to look almost like blood veins (or lightning) all going in the same general direction. I then went back with Abaddon Black (on the wet pallet again), and lined under the white ones I just did, staying on the same sides for each and every line, to give it sort of a balancing. I'll post a link to the video I watched if I can find it again, as it's much easier to see it in process than to read about it. :p (EDIT: This isn't the video I watched, but it'll give you kinda the same idea - and it's actually a better video than the one I watched...might have to go back and redo mine hahaha - ) (This shows pictures that are more along the lines of what I did - http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.nl/2011/06/tutorial-painting-marble.html)

Also... I snapped a quick pic (I know..the quality is terrible ) of my three purple rippers this morning before I left for work...I'll hopefully be working on them a bit more tonight...still not sure if I'm satisfied with their wing patterns or not yet.

Well... I didn't make much progress last night thanks to me being slow and slightly distracted by deadwood:oops: (I should've put on something different for background noise lol)

Here's a couple pics of the current state of one of the stegs:

A slightly sharper image of the rippers chasing Phil and Rupert :p (I made zero progress on them last night...spent all my time on my Trog)

Made very little progress on this Styg (Trog)...The blue took a lot longer than I thought it would, had to do two coats and prlly still need to go back and touch up a few places:confused:. This is just the first layer of the blue, still have to do the first layer of red and orange-yellow, but those shouldn't take very long.

The Stegadon looks awesome! And the colours on your troglodon are great! The stripes look magnificent. Really brilliantly done.

    Awesomely done!!
Remember that´s how you felt about the blue... Yellow/orange and red are also colours needing more than one layer .

Haha fair point, although there is significantly less area of those two colors than the blue, and much less of it is at weird angles, which were a pain (note to self...stick model to base with sticky tak before gluing...

    Thanks! Appreciate it!
