Hello guys! I didn't find a similar thread but if it already exists don't hesitate to delete this one. When attacking a single model or a unit during the shooting phase, it is said that the attacker must pick a "visible" model/ unit in range to be able to shoot. For me the problem appears in the case of the single model. I was wondering how visible the model has to be? Just a part of it, like a hand/ head/ legs..., or one of his items like a banner, a weapon or so. Or the model has to be entirely visible? We agreed with my friends to shoot at a model when we see a "woundable" part of the model (hand, head, arm, leg..) not the banner or weapon. Did we miss something in the rules? How you guys play?
This is how we play as well. Shoot the banner all you want, won't kill anything! We go for the bulk of the body with a clear spacing vetween bases. For example if a hero were surrounded by a ring of warriors, all touching bases we wouldn't allow line of sight. but if there is a gap in vetween the bases and you can see the body of the model it is fair game.
Nice idea for the space between bases, didn't think about that. So it is a real question, there is no clarification about this in FAQs documents, and it needs to be decided before the game...
Totally agree. The idea of the thread, is to know : -How visible a model needs to be, in order for the attacker to shoot. As there is nothing more precise in the rules, I suppose that any visible part of the model is enough. (Except the base maybe, as this part is not really important in AOS). -And, more important, how the comunity plays. With my friends we can shoot only if we see a part that we can wound (house rule ).
It depends on who you play with. To me it makes sense for the woundable parts of the model. Some people are like omg your spear tip is sticking around the corner so i can shoot him, or the spikes on your palanquin are sticking above the terrain you are trying to use for protection cause your flight base is 2.5 inches tall. Doesn't make much sense to me for things that move on the models (like banners, weapons) to be the criteria for being able to target them. Just feels like you can modify your units to give yourself distinct advantages based on that theory.
Ok..my question is..during a tournament Who decide what part of the model is Able to shoot?there are not clarifications from GW?
Tournament organizers are responsible for house rules. Make sure if you have these questions to get them in writing, if they aren't already included in the tournament package.
Ok! Last question if only half part of the unit can see the target..all unit can shoot or only the model that can see target? thx
