So how do people set up their Thunderquake?? Love my EotG's but is a troglodon a better option? Also kroxigors, salamanders or razordons? I have kroxigors atm but seem expensive points wise for what they do but are razordons/salamanders worth it?
It depends on the size of the game for me and support troops I am using. I would normally choose the engine, as it is quite versatile, and can do so much damage. If I have a slann and am taking mostly skinks, I would choose the troglodon. If I am taking mostly saurus, I will take the engine. Of you're taking Kroxigor take them in at least 6. 3 Kroxigor will seldom survive long enough to do damage, though they are good for drawing fire. I prefer to take a couple of Razordons 2-3 I think most prefer the salamanders, but once again you will want three or so to make them an effective threat.
What about hurricanum, Battlefield jade, and gryphound, would that supports for this Starhost? Would work nice i think.
Here is my build from the cheese list. Leaders Celestial Hurricanum With Celestial Battlemage (320) - Artefact: Phoenix Stone Jade Battlemage (100) Battlemage - Artefact: Phoenix Stone Amber Battlemage (100) Battlemage Skink Chief (60) - General - Golden Sickle - Trait: Master of Defense Battleline 10 x Skinks (80) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (80) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (80) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers Units 1 x Gryph-Hound (40) 3 x Skink Handlers (40) 3 x Razordons (180) Behemoths Troglodon (200) Bastiladon (300) Bastiladon (300) Battalions Thunderquake Starhost (120)
That would not be easy I think. Those differ quite a bit. But if I ever get a third starter box I think I will try that as well! Or maybe do that swamp Troglodon thing because it is amazing! http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/troglodon-conversion.14723/

probably thunderquake/shadowstrike combo eotg and 2 bastiladons is by far the best choice imo 3 lots of skinks with bows ripperdactyls, starpriest 2 salamanders with handler in a group (usually gets 1 hit through each time) i recently took thunderquake with dread saurian it was great, people shot at dread saurian instead of skinks and they didnt die for once, if people knew to just finish the skinks off first and they win it would of sucked tho
yep exactly, he died turn 2-3 most games, but i ended up with nearly all 30 skinks still alive... when you need models to hold a point thats perfect. mortal wounds hurt so badly tho, i think he went down both times mainly because of those
to be fair, if u ignore the dread saurian (and depending on local keyword rulings) starpriest doubling his damage, ur gonna have a real bad time when he hits you for over 30 wounds at -3rend lol
why should local keyword rulings matter? The Dread Saurian - is Seraphon - has an attack with "jaws" in its name So if it is within 8" of the Starpriest he can use the ability on it and its Jaws cause 2d6 damage on a hit of 6. Damn... I need one. EDIT: I just thought about it. With average rolls you really can do 30+ wounds. If you are a bit lucky you can easily get over 40 with a Dread Saurian. That's a lot. ...and did I already mention that I need one?
Yeah, but then he is still a damn huge thing with 16 wounds and an unbuffed 3+ save so he is probably worth it regardless.
Archmage od HE seems to be very Good support for battalion with his extra wound and mortal wound ignore roll on 6.
This is what I would run. I personally prefer the saurus over the skinks, Astrolith gives rerolls for the Bastilladons and Salamanders. Which allows the EotG to take savage every turn. So the Bastilladons are rerolling hits on 3+ with the Hurricanum and rerolling wounds and armor saves for being savage. EotG heals 2 wounds every turn with battalion and Phoenix stone. And the Jade priest heals whichever big monster is getting focused. Sally's shoot at different targets to maximize their potential for mortal wounds and the reroll to hit and wound really helps them out.
