Hi all, finally got round to making a painting blog to help spur me on in terms of finishing my multitude of models, as well as catalogue just how many I have! Don't particularly want to lose track of what I have now I've been in the hobby for about 10 years, so you'll be seeing a variety of models throughout my hobby journey- in various paint jobs that could probably do with some improvement. Also, I do have models from various other armies that I can try to post up on here too... Once I charge up that dang camera! Enjoy! Edit: Here's a list of models that are in various states of painting/finished/need purchasing to help remind me: Lord Kroak- painting. Kroq-Gar/Oldblood on Grym-loq/Carnosaur (plastic)- Rider finished/Carnosaur painting. Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (plastic)- Rider painting/Carnosaur finished. To add on next: (clearly as part of the Great Plan of the Old Ones!) -Astrolith/Banner Bearer -Cold one cavalry box (to bulk out each unit to ten, and have spares for scar-veterans) -Temple Guard box (so that I don't need to proxy some of my Saurus) -Skink box (so that I can bulk a unit up to 20 blowpipes and javelins, along with the 5th edition plastics) -Ripperdactyl unit -Plastic Terradons (a lot easier to base than my metal ones!) -Bastiladon (other weapon option, should I wish to run the laser and snake arc at the same time) -3 Razordons (to round the unit to max size 4) -2 Salamanders (to round the unit to max size 4) -7 more chameleon skinks (to round the unit up to 10) Don't think I've missed anything out... (Sotek bless my poor wallet and help me store/hide this away from my family! D: )
Have finally got some photos that I took about 2 years ago, which was mainly a way of seeing what I had as part of my Lizardmen army. Some of the models you may recognise, if you've been around on the internet over the years and saw any Lizardmen minis on Deviantart (ah, my childhood, what a time). The slann in particular I remember putting on Deviantart, but I have now decided to repaint him, as he was due for an update. Bearing in mind though, that I have purchased several terradons, a start collecting kit, a carnosaur, bastiladon and some cold one riders since then!
Looking like a nice collection there I like that your Kroak and Slann have the spikes at the bottom at the plaques above a lot of mine are missing these elements.
I was able to purchase some of the army in a bundle from a friend of a friend for about £50 about 7ish years ago (all the old 5th edition stuff you see in the big army photo! I wonder how much I saved in terms of retail price...) However, some are in various states of disrepair, as I made the horrifying discovery that acetone-based nail polish remover is a tad too strong for removing paint... and plastic. (I have since rescued and painted the relatively undamaged skinks and saurus, but half of them are rather decayed- a friend jokingly said they would make perfect Nurgle/zombie-fied lizardmen! :O The filthy heretic! Although considering he's a vampire counts player, I think he was eyeing them up as potential zombie recruits...) Definitely need to spend a day green-stuffing the holes and repairing them altogether... Edit: Now that I remember it, I recall some jaw-dropping moments when my friends had seen what I had done to the poor skinks... not realising what they were, they thought the model was actually a termagant from the tyranid army in 40k! That or Tzeentch had melted them...
Ah, those bits are quite pesky- especially when the model is metal and the superglue seemingly dries out over a few years D: That and I need to put a matt spray varnish on them as the paint chips off the metal ends a fair bit :S Lord Kroak unfortunately had the hole in his metal palanquin drilled in at the wrong angle (I think the Old Ones done goofed in casting his metal mould) so I have to balance him almost diagonally to get him to look straight ahead, or else he faces the ground!
I like kroaks pose in the background lol, he's like leaning back on his palanquin like I do in my desk chair when I'm tired. It must be extra tiring being dead for so long
Ask and ye shall receive! All be it, the skinks are amongst my first models ever painted - back when I didn't know about using primer! (The horror! O: ) The Saurus were the first models that I used drybrushing on after visiting a GW nearby and asking how to get the scales to look good. Tempted to give them a wash of coelia greenshade or drakenhof nighshade to give them a bit more definition, once I've done my other models. That, and as a memo to myself: do the bases on the skinks ! Completely forgot I hadn't done them! o.0
Wowwwww that's... a great tip. Actually, speaking of tip, what size sharpie? Felt tip or actual "pen" tip? I'm assuming, white base, then a little sharpie dot?
I use the 0.05 Sakura Pigma Micron http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8PCS-Blac...606301?hash=item210c7049dd:g:jHAAAOSwQjNW-Qyo
Hello all, update time! After doing a stock take on what I have, and what I need in order to run a starbeast constellation (the largest formation/battalion/warscroll thingy-majig in the Seraphon book) I realised that I need to finish all the models I currently have and buy 1 Start Collecting box for the bare minimum! (I think) As for bulking out the units, I might add another temple guard box, skinks and cold one cavalry box on top of that to bulk up the numbers (and after realising that i goofed up in not giving my newly finished temple guard unit a command group! D'oh!) and so that I no longer need to proxy one of the saurus units as temple guard. (might edit my first post to list out what needs painting/buying as a first page reference point) Right, now I need to get cracking with the painting...
