On Monday I leave for my summer job which is a 3 hour drive I plan on bringing my army but I'm unsure on the best way to transport them. I have 15 cold one knights 10 Saurus warriors a Troglodon an old blood on a Carnosaur and one on on a cold one and a skink priest and a bastiladon. Rigid box with tissues or is there a better way?

The best way would be using a transport case, such as the ones GW sell (There are other brands but I haven´t tried them). The problem is that those are pretty costly. What I used to do before I got my case was to blue-tac the models to the bottom of a shoe box (or similar) so they wouldn´t move around. That´s fine as long as you don´t drop or hit them. Other way would be to magnetize their bases and glue a metal sheet inside a box, so they´re also held in place. I have had very bad results with tissue. The first and last time I used it I ended up with half of my models destroyed, so definitely don´t use tissues.

I have a few toolboxes myself, they tend to work pretty well, but I could use more foam. They didn't cost as much as the exhorbitant GW prices, but they arent exactly meant for models... since I haven't invested in more foam padding yet I normally bring some glue along :D

Each of the inner cases is removable, both for quick army setup and for transporting bigger stuff, but I am thinking to get a new one specifically for the big monsters now. These pictures are pretty old, but they show how the boxes work.

I use GW carry cases, the problem is they are useless for transporting bigger models so I am working on a magnetized system into a strong case - it's just taking a while.

For your stuff, I think a reasonably strong box stuffed with whatever packing materials you have is going to do the job. Particularly on short notice...

Stick some magnets under the bases then get a couple of old biscuit tins or similar

This is what I am working on - I have an old hard case I am going to clean up and then stick a baking tray to the bottom.

Really simple but effective way of moving large models.

I think this is exactly what @NIGHTBRINGER has done with his army? I seem to remember a picture of a toolbox with tons of saurus and skinks sticking to the sides for easy setup/transport.

Well it is filled with a lot more Chaos taint, but aside from that, you are correct :)...

The tool box is from a hardware store called Canadian Tire. All the bases of the models have a small rare earth magnet (3mm diameter, 2mm thick) glued to their underside (some of the larger models have larger magnets). The movement trays have thin sheet metal glued to their top surface and larger rare earth magnets on their undersides (9mm diamter, 2mm thick).

I have a detailed pictorial breakdown of how I make my movement trays in my woodworking blog on pages 3 and 4...

I'm looking towards the KR cases (https://www.krmulticase.com/).

So far, from what I've readed in other forums/blogs, KR makes cheap-as-chips (hehe) cases. Their most prominent article is the cardboard case, which is surprisingly sturdy, and can be transported on backpacks easily.

Sticking stuff in foam is a total pain in the ass. If you don't have anything currently I would strongly suggest going the magnetised metal route if you can...

After the 20th time of glueing a godamn spear back on or trying to fit a Carno with rider into something foamy you will wish you had...

Huh, maybe I should drop by Canadian Tire. Will probably save me having to buy one of those painfully expensive GW boxes.

The system I have set up has it's advantages and disadvantages. On the plus side it is cheaper, can store way more models and I can literally set up my army in a minute. On the negative side, I wouldn't use this set up for long distance transport since the models can become dislodged if the case is thrown about. However, if you're careful with it, it is an awesome way to transport models.
