As these are taking up quite a bit of space in my "other projects" blog and I think they have gained enough momentum to be given a blog of thier own. I also believe they would benefit from a more focused discussion. What am I talking out? Why, my combined armies of the imperium, the thrice ressurected (this being the third time) collection of imperial Miniatures for Warhammer 40k that I intend to rise to the occasion with in 8th edition. First things first: what do I have currently? To answer succinctly: 5 adeptus custodes with shields and swords 2 adeptus custodes conversions with guardian spears 10 dark angels tactical Marines 10 mk III ultramarines tactical Marines 3 random dark angels that need to be stripped and are basically conversion fodder Possible more stuff Secondly: what's the plan? Gather whatever imperial servants I can and build a "crusading" army as a splinter expeditionary force of the Indomitus crusade. To this end if you have any bitz and pieces or spare imperial models, even if for trade, please contact me. Unfortunately I am not going to be able to get the new starter box. It's just not in the budget. even with online retailer discount. I will be attempting to obtain a few primaris Marines but money is again, tight. I will be basing the armies entirely on rusted deck plating bases, the very same ones that are in my Etsy shop. All commentary is welcome and over actively encouraged. I'm looking at you @NIGHTBRINGER @Ritual Till tomorrow, LM
Considering this is my third complete start-from-scratch go at this, I'm gonna give it the best shot I can
Full squad, and a question Question is this: I have another squad I just dug out that is painted and based. I plan to have unified basing on this army. As such, should I rip them off thier bases, rebase and repair, or strip and repaint? The other squad I am talking about is painted orange with red accents
They are off to a good start, how were you planning to base them? Urban terrain or something more themed, like snow?
I think that would strike a great contrast with the Dark Angels green... it would pain me to rip the marines off their bases though I am afraid to base my Bretonnian knights for specifically that reason
This was that other squad i mentioned. I'm trying to decide whether to strip and paint them somehow different. They are currently in a custom paint scheme and Mars ironearth basing.
So they are currently soaking, as are some various other minis I have. I also got a lot of Marines from a friend of mine, including 5 terminators 5 sniper scouts 2 AoBR captains, one without sword arm 23 Marines, 3 sgts, 2 plasma Cannon, 1 heavy bolter, 17 bolters As such, I will be painting a few squads each from the Emperor's warbringers and iron knights
Sounds like you have a decent size army. Those starter sets end up making pretty good sources for an unplanned Space Marine army.
3 emperor's warbringers sans chapter symbol, which I need a new pot of black paint for. Yes, I picked a couple chapters I liked from lexicanum.
