I've got a week off in the middle of August, I'm hoping I can get a whole bunch done in a day or two then!
I'm stuck due to having a kitchen extension built that has resulted in no lighting or sockets in my man loft, added to that we are living out of one room atm which is not the best!
So...work in progress things should be in a Plog thread..?..did I ever start one of those? EDIT: I did: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/pendrakes-painted-lizards-and-terrain-project.16405/
The project has been fun so far! This is my current progress with my burial mound(s): And the bigger one: WIP shots starting here. I definitely agree with making a floor plan first. That way you can make some measurements to make sure the final project is the correct size, it will save you a lot of time in the long run and help you make less mistakes.
@Warden Those look fantastic! I like all your terrain stuff, you make it look easy. What sort of foam is it you are using? I might have to get some and give it a whirl.
I started mine last night and this morning I've decided to scrap it and start again, Yep going well so far.....
I started building a tree out of wire last night and half way through had a fantastic idea which will link in with my Dark Mechanicus army. Watch this space! (We've got house guests until after the weekend now, so zero hobby time >< Ideas having to be written down...)
I used floral foam blocks bought from walmart, I had a bunch leftover from my jungle castle. The ones I bought come in groups of three: Pros: Easy to cut into whatever shape you need, especially easy to make smaller block shapes or cut into the proper size for the side of a pyramid Cons: The foam comes in two versions, "dry" and "wet." I prefer dry, because though it is harder to cut and leaves dust everywhere, the wet foam that I used for this project is dented very easily (press with your finger gently and it leaves a mark) and it is hard to paint over. Since it is so dry, very often a single brush stroke will rip foam off the sides without attaching any actual paint! --> I counteracted this problem by base coating it twice with black spray paint, then adding a final, thick layer of normal black acrylic paint (I used apple barrel paints in large quantities). This gave the foam a hard enough outer surface to continue to add more layers of paint without stripping the foam down more.
Slight tangent, but along the lines of my previous post on castles and further terrain inspiration! Found a great picture, from Onyx Hobby Blog, they made a fortress of Gondor- Dol Amroth: Fantastic step-by-step pictures of an amazing terrain piece.
I'm getting near to completing my models and my Lustria board will be as good as that once I start it! (I hope)
Ah right Oasis is what I call that stuff, but i think that's just the brand name. Reminds me of flower arranging with my Nan Thanks for the heads up, think i can get it pretty cheap from Hobby Craft.
Hi everyone. I am so sorry but I have to quit the competition. My holiday was cancelled due to an urgent project at work. I really tried to prevent it or find a way around, but I have to take it like it is. So sorry, please don't feel offended.
