I recently got some of the old skink archers, and I want to paint them in an older style. Any tips for how to do this?

What is "Older Style"? Can you point to some examples in the Galleries here?

I don't really know how to describe it, kind of like the old 'Eavy Metal from the 80s or 90s.

Only use Primary colors, and brown, black and white.
alternately use red instead of most browns.

And don't edge highlight, most of the old stuff was painted quite basic compared to today's standards, google Mike Mcvey eavy metal painting guide, I have it somewhere.

Make them green like orks and goblins with yellow or orange crest and belly... or make them blue like 'moder' lizardmen with yellow crest and belly...
Might be difficult to achieve the very same look as back in the old times as the changed the paint range quite fundamentally since then... but using new techniques on older models isn't a bad thing...
