My next tournament is coming up at the beginning of next month and I'm looking to start playing around with our allies the Storm Cast Eternals. I do so love a Kroaknado, but do you know what's better than a Kroaknado? A Kroak/Primenado of course! Running with this: General-Kroak Astrolith-Incandescent Retrices Starpriest-Light of Dracothian Allied Prime! 10 skinks boltspitters and shields x 3 3 Ripperdactyls Bastiladon Solar Shadowstrike 180 points to summon a vortex and 2 Razodons 38-44" in any direction! 20 points left for a potential triumph to boot. Most likely dropping the prime early and using him as an artillery platform rather than a combat monster. Guaranteed 3 mortal wounds anywhere with extras from a d6" bubble plus Kroak's already ridiculous mortal wound out put should bring down characters quickly (in play testing pre ghb2 brought down a Treeman Ancient in a single turn) and hoping the Basti and the reduced strength of the Rippers and Razodons will still be enough to mop up. I am loathe to drop my beloved Riperdactlys down to such low numbers and losing the toad while in the clouds will mean it'll be a difficult choice on whether or not to deploy them. But losing the Bastilodon would have cost me more I feel. I'm really looking forward to summoning 2 Razordons up to 44" and catching people out with their 4d6 shots at a 12" range. EDIT: Slight tweek, I might drop 40 points for summoning for 1 Razordon and top up a unit of Skinks to 20. That seems better perhaps..
Mother of Sotek!! Oh dear that has to be the cheesiest list I've ever seen. Table-flipping good. I have to think about it....
What a coincidence, I was thinking myself that I could might as well use those last 350ish points I end up having in some of my lists with "nothing lovely in particular " into the big poster boy whose miniature I happen to enjoy a lot !
When is your tournament? Did you already play this list? And if yes, how did it go? I am currently considering buying a balewind vortex to really get my Kroaknado shenanigans going and I have the opportunity to take Stormcast allies as a friend of mine is the owner of a SCE army (Including a sweet Celestant-Prime). Do you think this list has potential? Or maybe a pure Seraphon list remains the best for a Kroaknado variant? P.S.: I'm also wondering what would look like a typical Kroaknado list, I do have a good idea of what it ressembles but don't know what is the most optimized one yet!
I'm not looking for THE BEST list as I'm quite aware that such a thing does not exist, I'm looking for optimized lists which include stapple units that we see in the majority of the Kroaknado variant, hence my interest in Allied SCE as a possibility. People asking for the best list around is just part of the discussion and debate IMO.
It just depends too much on the ever changing meta. What is good in one tournament might suck in the next one. The basics for Kroaknado are always the same: Kroak Balewind Vortex Astrolith Bearer Edit: the rest is personal taste. Some like to play resilient stuff to hold objectives (so either sturdy monsters or hordes) others like to play a Shadowstrike to get the maximum harassment out of the list. Snipe everything that looks dangerous in the first round.
It's It's this weekend ☺ Changed it a little Lord Kroak (450) - General Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160) - Artefact: Incandescent Rectrices Skink Starpriest (80) - Artefact: Light of Dracothion Celestant-Prime (340) - Allies 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 6 x Ripperdactyl Riders (280) Shadowstrike Starhost (170) Balewind Vortex (100) Reinforcement Points (240) Total: 2000 / 2000 Allies: 340 / 400 Planning on summoning the unit of extra rippers so the damage output of the Shadowstrike ones is hidden to encourage poor deployment against them.. Veh sneaky Massive amounts of potential for SCE/Seraphon as they synergies very well. I'm going to a doubles next year with a Kroaknado and SCE with a Stardrake in it. He'll add one to Kroak's casting and more mortal wounds, plus he's hard as nails. I'd favour that over a Prime, but he'll work just as well (I love the stardrake model). Let me know how you get on, I'll share my thoughts on this weekend soon. It's a bit of an experiment before the masters in January I'm close to qualifying for (currently 6th in the UK woo). Edit: sorry thought you meant in a doubles. Prime over stardrake as he's too many points lol. Hopefully there's millage in the list, not yet used it, it's currently been played in my mind against all my opponents at the Facehammer GT lol
Hmmm not bad... It is a bit of an all-in list with those few wounds, but it will hit so hard it will make up for that I think.
Agreed. . I'm not convinced, but the only way to gain decent insight is to try things out under the most pressure. As ever, games must be played!
Facehammer GT has been and gone I came 8th (dropped 10 points for painting that cost me 3rd ) Similar list with no Prime but 2 Heralders and a Slyvanteth wildwood
