Hey folks new to the forums but not to lizards, I've started to play AoS recently (which I have totally enjoyed much to my surprise to be honest) however, the one problem I do have is I cant seem to write a 2k list I am happy with I have a general frame work of what I personally like (which is sat at about 1660 points atm) but I was hoping to get some advice on what I'm missing. My collection is vast to say the least, as I have collected lizards since the day of release so models are no issue at all. If you would like I could list what I have and will do if asked My frame work thus far is as follows: Slann Starmaster (260) Skink Priest (80) 40 Skinks (blowpipes + shield) (200) 40 Skinks (blowpipes + shield) (200) 40 Saurus warriors (spears + shield) (360) Bastiladon (280) (laser) Bastiladon (280) (laser) So this totals at the moment 1660, and is just a frame work of what I like model / game wise, just cant seem to use those 360 points and be happy with it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome! That's a great start. There are several ways you should go. IMO an Astrolith Bearer could do that list a lot of good. Fill up with even more Skinks and a Starpruest maybe, and let your enemy drown in them. But you could also go Thunderquake I guess. I am not sure if mixing Saurus and Skinks is too effective though. The units good for buffing Saurus don't do much for Skinks...
Slanns reroll 1 constellation is more than enough for the 40man blob as they hit on 3s - ending up to 19 wounds to be saved + shield attacks. But as I have also played blob outside saurus batallions, I must say they don't really work for their points and 360 points are a lot - your opponent is having 6 kurnoth hunters almost with those which hardly lose any wounds with the failed all rerolls from them. My suggestion : Take the warriors off, place a 3rd skink of 10 - 640 left. Put 2 Stegadons in with a Skystreak bow. They are the most safe to work on teleport as the charge will likely happen with the ability and they have the only thing our army lacks : big rend. Now your shooting is nothing to be made fun of and you still have 160 points to work with. I would probably use a 4 man razordon unit to this point so it can pepper them, be placed near an important target of yours for the 4+ triggering threat and also having them as a threat to be teleported to a weak point of the opponent. Salamanders with their -2 would be awesome but that 8" range doesn't work for me yet. Probably I'm not that good of a general for it so far Hope it helped !
thanks for the suggestions! @Aginor and @Seraphage in all honesty I was debating the Sarus myself after looking over their profile again (they were originally Saurus Guard but only 15) and I took them out just for wounds, I have all the models to do that @Seraphage so i'll re write the list and post it in thread again to see how it looks! ok so with those changes this is 2k on the nose! Slann Starmaster (260) Skink Priest (80) 40 Skinks (blowpipes + shield) (200) 40 Skinks (blowpipes + shield) (200) 10 Skinks (blowpipe + shield) (60) 4 Razordons (160) Stegadon (bow) (240) Stegadon (bow) (240) Bastiladon (laser) (280) Bastiladon (laser) (280) that's 2k, how do you think this will do? I do notice i'm lacking any battalions, I know they don't have to be included but some do seem really good just from reading.
I really like this list. It is extremely mobile, shooty, tanky and has many threats all around. I would sugest the ressurection item on 3+ on the Slann as the +1 rerollable global is huge to be missed. For the Command Trait, either the Skink Spells or the Double Teleport. Whatever fits you best. We do have some interesting batallions indeed - for instance I 've written a list with the same logic but inside HeavensWatch batallion which people never seem to prefer. My intension was to have threats in the form of monsters that can heal, with the sweet reroll of wounds that are our army completely lacks out of the Kroxigor - Skink synergy and is really good as they wound on 3s, with a really strong shooting phase and some serious rend threat from up close : Heavenswatch (200) Starseer (200) Starpriest (80) Starpriest(80) Chose Starpriests over a priest because I want to always have Summon Starlight on, Mystic Shield and arcane bolt if needed since we totally lack mortal wounds, and be able to use Curse of Fate of Starseer that can make some huge differences in some saves / 3 damage attacks that hit on 6 of opponent etc Bastiladon (280) *inside batallion Bastiladon (280) *inside batallion Stegadon (240) *inside batallion Stegadon (240) *inside batallion Skinks x10 (60) *inside batallion Skinks x10 (60) Skinks x10 (60) Hunting Pack : Razordon x4 + Handlers (200) *inside batallion A 3 - Drop batallion and good chances to pick who goes first which is huge (90% of the time, it is better to go 2nd judging by my experience thus far). You can skip handlers for a sally or 10 more skinks and a 4 - Drop. Handlers will only be of use if you decide to nuke something else than the rest of the army with the 4man razordon squad 1980 total
Sounds good @Seraphage they are something I will look into the double teleport does sound fun with both Stegadons, i'll run this list in my next few games to see how it does! thanks for your input, has been very helpful will let you know how it goes
You will rock. I don't think you even need the double teleport, I'd go for Vast Intellect to have curse of fate: you will have just one teleport, but it will work 100%.
