AoS Shadowstrike + Thunderquake, works?

    Hi!

    as ive looked through and talked to you guys (love all the help im getting) ive finally decided that Shadowstrike and thunderquake are the two formations that uses the models i like the most.

    - can i use both in the same 2k list? if so..how would that look?

    - in terms of playstyle, what are the main tactics with them both? in short terms, what are thier respective strenghs and weaknesses as a formation?

    - would you encourage a new player to try these or just one of them?

    - if you want to, i would love to see some lists that you´ve used with these formations, i need some inspiration for what to buy. so if you were starting fresh and went or these formations, what would you buy? im aiming for 2k lists.

    I played that combination once before GHB2017 but I think now the bataillon tax is too high to really make it viable for 2k.

    Choose one and build to it’s strengths, as already stated your paying too much tax to take both at 2000 pt games

    Personally I would build around Shadowstrike just because I love Skinks

    Ok..then ill go for thunderquake since i love the big guys!

    Has anyone got a thunderquake list that they thought was effective? Or can link me to a thread or something?

    Im feelings that seraphon is kind of overwhelming so if someone can give something that they used and worked that would be awesome!

    The thunderquake starhost is discussed in the thread previously linked. Do you need something different?

    Yeah i mean more like a finished list. I get what i need to fulfill the formation but im not so sure about the rest of the list.

    I would like to use:
    EoTG
    1x Bastiladon
    1x stegadon
    (Not sure if i want razor/Sala or krox here)

    And for Battleline, should i go skinks? 3x 10 or 1 big blob of 40 and then some smal for objectives?

    A slann would be Nice too!

    Any tips here? anyone used a list that fills these requirements?

    And...would it be effective?

    My last list (at 1500 pts) was:

    (starhost) 170
    EotG 220
    Stegadon 240
    Bastiladon w solar beam 280
    2 x salamanders + handlers 120
    1 x Slann (Vast Intellect) 260
    3 x 10 skinks 180

    despite the "loss" of 30 pts, it was pretty effective against Fyreslayers and SCE

    Why is the EotG the general?
    The Slann should do that I think.

    Solid list otherwise.

    Aginor is right. You want the Slann to be the general.

    Plus, I do believe that one unit of 40 x skinks should be enough.
    Personally, I'd go fo 2 x 10 skinks and 1 x 40 skinks, saving 120 pts

    that depends on the number of salamanders / razordons you have... ;)

    a Group of 3 fits perfectly, otherwise pick just one lone sally and a priest / starpriest for 80, for further support.

    Lets say i do have all the salamanders i need would you add 3 Sala? With no Handlers? Or would the Starpriest + 1 Sala be better? I have all the units!!

    that depends on what you are planning to use the army (command traits and similar)

    3 sallies that wander freely on the battlefield are going to dal some damage. Cheap and dangerous units, that will be ignored or chased with units that cost more than them.
    Alternatively, you could assign the handlers to them, and use the 4 razordons as a stand-alone unit (if you plan to have the constellation granted by the Slann, to let you reroll the 1s of the shooting for the razors).

    The Starpriest could be mandatory if you don't take Vast Intellect for the Slann because you like to have double teleport, so at least you can count on Starlight. But in both cases it's a wizard that can act as vassal for the Slann.
