Hey everyone! I got the administratum grey today and it looks great on the palanquin! I worked on Lord Kroak for a couple of hours before realizing I forgot to get the green for the plants! Now I'm debating whether or not to make the vines and plants purple since I really want to keep working on him. The only thing stopping me is that I was going to make the bumpy engine things on the bottom of the palanquin purple, so I'd have to change the color on them as well to maybe a bright blue/white. The terrain is also finished! It's not super pretty to look at but given 2 days and $70 I think it turned out ok. I'll post pics of it later tomorrow.
Hey everyone! Lord Kroak is almost done! Just have to assemble him now, which will be within the night. I'm really happy with how he turned out despite a few rough patches (screw finecast and plastic glue can be super annoying at times). Now that he's done I can start working on my knights again! After them I have the Bastiladon though I want to wait until I can either get him commissioned or get an air spray so I can get a really nice galaxy on his back. Thanks again for following and hope you enjoy!
Done! I made Kroak magnetized to because...well it was my first time so I wanted to see how it would work!
I did a little for the base, I used astrogranite on it, painted it Abbadon Black, and then dry brushed leadbelcher on it. Though in the future I want to use some really cool costume bases I found for them....its just they are expensive and I'd rather get the models going and painted and then switch the bases later. Thanks for the response!
Just a small update, finished up the base paint on the riders and now going over small details before moving on to items.
I really liked your Lord Kroak, really neat star-scape design on the stonework and his death mask. And I never noticed this frog before on the model! That is something that doesn't get spotted so easily on most pictures. Also nice start to your terrain collection! Is that just art canvas you are using for your four green boards? Do you plan to flock it or paint it any other colors in the future? I was thinking of doing a similar setup, but I am wary about not being able to fold it up for easier storage.
Been a while since I last did an update, college and running the game club here on campus has been quite busy. Hey Warden! I used some foam board, duct tape, and acrylic paint to make the boards. I do plan to flock it once I get some more funds to blow. As a side update, I'm working on an Astrolith Bearer now, and I have had my absolute hatred of fine cast rekindled, I don't really have access to green stuff (closest store is 2 hours away) and I'm strapped on money so...Yay! In addition to that I messed up and broke a part of the horn on the symbol, so now I'm trying to find some lore-related reasons as to why. Anyways here's a pic of it so far (sorry for the bad image quality), I need to do a few more coats on parts like the skulls and try to tidy some other stuff up as well as paint the leaves. As a side note, anyone have any tips for edging? I have had major issues with it and it's really frustrating, part of it is that I need a new brush since my smallest one is fraying and the others are too large (or maybe I'm not skilled enough at it). Thanks again for watching and hope you enjoy!
(I have trouble viewing those attachments so...) I saved off the picture, lopped off the useless pixels on the sides, and loaded it inline. (So I can see it better.) It is a mediocre picture. What would help most is more (MOAR!) pixels. That is only 237 wide X 337 tall. 337 was the original height in pixels...I didn’t change that. (Improving the light would help a little as well, but more pixels on the item = job1.) But at least I can see where the horn is missing because of that time the unit he was following ran under some trees and it got snagged in a branch and snapped off. If that ^ is too prosaic for you, try: A Wizard Did It. Seriously, paint some scorching over the gold on that side so it looks like some Empire Chaos Wizard with a Fire Wand went for the Astrolith, but mostly missed.
Beautiful work. A very unique colour scheme and very well executed. The red stones on the bottom are a nice touch.
Hey everyone, I've been looking at airbrush compressors for a bit and I'm having a hard time with them. I have a budget of around $150 for one though lower would be nicer. Any suggestions?
Hey everyone! Been a while since I've posted, finals are coming up so I've been a bit busy. I pretty much finished my astrology bearer, I just need to add the scorched effect on the broken horn, not too sure where to start with that but I'm sure I can Google it. I just ordered a unit of saurus guard as well as a Baldwin's vortex for Kroak. I do have one more model that needs to be painted and that is my skink starpriest. I think the next thing I'm going to get is two boxes of skinks, mostly because while I do want to get units like the kroxigor I would rather not work with forecast for a while and also I've heard the model size isn't quiet what it's supposed to be compared to the skinks. Anyways hope you enjoy!
Nice model! Although unfortunately your bright lamp makes the skin look flatter (less shaded) than it probably is. Are all your Saurus purple skinned?
