Next years early season will most likely be dominated by Fyreslayers and their Vulkite spam lists (AOS for dummies).

A Kroak based list doesn't have the footfall to take on the Slayers with any degree of confidence other than in perhaps Duality of Death where I'd say he'd be heavily favoured. I'm reluctant to drop Kroak, but I also don't want to be a one trick pony.

Thunderquake should have the grit to win out in a war of attrition and Kroxigor supported properly look to be a great anti horde unit with a cheeky jaw attack for those heavily armoured units. considering the list below after I've built my Draco tail army (gonna give it a go, but think a list that contains so many inefficient units like the knights and carno is going to struggle harder than previous Kroak builds).

    Allegiance: Seraphon
    Slann Starmaster (260)
    - General
    - Trait: Vast Intellect
    - Artefact: Incandescent Rectrices

    Engine of the Gods (220)
    - Artefact: Coronal Shield
    10 x Skinks (60)
    - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
    10 x Skinks (60)
    - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
    10 x Skinks (60)
    - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
    9 x Kroxigor (480)
    Bastiladon (280)
    Bastiladon (280)
    Thunderquake Starhost (170)

    Reinforcement Points (120)

    Total: 1990 / 2000
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 99

120 summoning points to bring in a Starpiest (buff those Krox jaws if there's a lot of armour about) and a Razordon or 3 Razordons if we're outnumbered..

Plan is to buff the 9 Krox with Mystic Shield and Starlight to take the brunt of any assaults. Blast away with the Basti's (even better next to damned terrain, take the d3 mortal wounds and then heal them back thanks to the Thunderquake. Plus 1 to hit is lovely on those beasts) and go for the ever-so-reliable curse of fated extra turns from the Engine of the Gods, 60% of the time it works every time!

Can even cast Curse of Fate on the Krox champion and hope for the +1 to charge ability from the Slann. They can teleport and then only need a 7 to charge with a reroll thanks to the Thunderquake's warscroll. Making some big plays for territory possible.

Anyone have much experience with Thunderquake? How easy it is to keep the Slann alive?

Once your opponent understands the importance of the Slann in a Thunderquake Starhost, they become such a priority for them to kill that you might not be able to use all your defensive buffs on the kroxigors. I've played quite a bit with a slann, only once in a Thunderquake, and the amount of synergy the frog brings all by himself already makes my opponents target him at all cost, the thunderquake is just icing on the cake.

Incandescent Rectrices can be a savior, but only once and even then the dices sometimes don't wanna play your game.

What do you think of Great rememberer for the Slann? I understand Curse of Fate is really good but having the possibility of teleporting all 9 Krox PLUS a supporting Bastiladon could be quite devastating, or even repositionning both of your bastis on objectives.

Yeah, this is my main worry. But Fyreslayers don't have the tools to deal with the Slann how other armies do and it is to try and counter them. they will be everywhere I'd imagine. So having a decent counter to them should, in theory, increase your chances of a favourable match up.

Double teleport is way to YOLO for me (feel dirty using that acronym, apologies for anyone 30 plus reading this..). It encourages wild plays and vast intellect gets you so much more value imho.

Curse of Fate guarantees a successful teleport and doubles the chance of you moving after, so dreamy.

That's exactly what I do after trying not to and rolled 15 1s in 23 rolls. Yep. This is how you can actually plan every single time without having your strategy being destroyed from a supposedly "16.666666666%" chance :p

Consistently is key, it's why Tzeentch (can choose what they roll), Vanguard Wing and Fyreslayers are top tier atm

It's been doing well here in the UK. Low drops, hyper mobility and easy/consistent combos (little rolling required).

    Dull AF though

Yeah those are just lame. Funny though that they don't seem to claim the top3 spots or did so miss that?

Oh man 9 Kroxigor really sounds epic. Regardless of how effective they are, they are just cool. :D

He's less important in a quake list than he is outside of a quake list as you get value out of the rerolls available. the list is designed to grind it out, a unit being alive is better than a dead unit.. all theory though as I don't have 9 Krox atm. I'll try with and without and see :)

Bastis were going have snakes, need the anti armour as hordes are covered, less need for the astro then as well

Hi! For sure fireslayers are part of early year meta and I found this list very good vs them on paper. The question is how this list can perform vs tzeentch! I think they still very strong and popular:)

I agree, I'd expect to see tzeentch being less represented if more Fyreslayers pop up, as they are a hard counter to them.

Guess we will have a better understanding of the meta in the next couple of months

Been away from the game for a while. What is it exactly about the new fyreslayers that makes them so scary?

Most efficient battleline/perhaps unit in the game. Each guy can potentially cause 4 wounds a turn and with their special saves they tank a lot of hits.
In a Fyreslayers alligence they have a way of dealing with multiple situations.
Worst of all is the tunneling abilit of the Smiters. Dropping 60 to 90 warriors on objectives that have a 4 up special save is very strong
