Hey guys, Chasing a decent 650 list if possible, my mate has only got a small amout of storm casts hence the 650pt limit. Does anyone have any tips? I have 1 x carno 2 x bastiladons 20 x skinks 60 x warriors 10 x temple guard 3 x rippers 1 x skink starseer 1 x skink priest 1 x eternal warden 1 x saurus scar vet on cold one 8 x saurus knights 1 x jade wizard I believe thats everything off the top of my head
Hmpf you are 5 Guards short of a very tough list for 650 points. Eternal Starhost with Eternity Warden and 3x5 Guard, plus a Starpriest would be tough to beat I think. Maybe you can proxy five Warriors to play them as Guard? There are other options but that was the first one that came to mind.
Oh but one note about that list: If your opponent is an SCE playing a Relictor and a Celestant on foot he will probably wipe you from the board pretty quickly, as mortal wounds are Kryptonite for Saurus Guard. In that case I'd say you are better of with something Saurus heavy, let's see.... This for example: Allegiance: Order Leaders Saurus Sunblood (120) - General - Trait: Thickly Scaled Hide - Artefact: Blade of Realities Skink Starpriest (80) Battleline 40 x Saurus Warriors (360) - Clubs 10 x Skinks (60) - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers Total: 620 / 650 Allies: 0 / 200 Wounds: 61 As you can see that list has WAY more wounds and uses the Starpriest's buffs and the Sunblood's buff for the Saurus. Which might be an advantage. It allows several tactics, some risky some less risky.
Skink Starpriest (80) - General - Command Trait : Master of Star Rituals - Artefact : Light of Dracothion Units 3 x Ripperdactyl Riders (140) 10 x Skinks (60) -Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 40 x Skinks (200) -Boltspitters & Star Bucklers Battalions Shadowstrike Starhost (170)
Skink priest managed to snipe out his leader with some lucky bolts, Eternity Warden stayed close to the guards and took out a squad of liberators before this guard fell, The Warden was the mvp easily, he smashed out two squads of liberators with some lucky rolls. He rolled out 12 attacks and only 2 hit and i needed a 5+ to save and i rolled two 5's. When I rolled out 8 dice to hit, 6 hit and he saved 1 I don't know what list to bring to our next 1k game, Thinking about the no friends list Scar vet on cold one Skink priest Jade wizard Bastildaon Warriors
Be advised that a Jade Wizard cannot be played if you want to retain Seraphon allegiance. If you are ok with Grand Alliance Order allegiance (which in most cases I think you shouldn't) then you can use him.
The upsides: - You can use any Order unit The downsides - No global unbind for Slann - No Slann spell range bonus - No teleporting units - No Command trait for the general - Order artefacts instead of Seraphon It is true that other armies have it worse though. If we had a spell lore I'd probably not even consider going Grand Alliance but yeah... it might be worth it for any army that doesn't use a Slann and doesn't want or need to teleport.
Of course! Slann look cool and they became quite useful support units with the GHB2017. Most 1.5k or bigger lists contain them since you can then choose either the extra spells for the Slann or the double teleport trait, and against magic armies the global unbind is awesome.
Based on your post above I made this list: I'd probably go for a Starpriest instead of the Priest because of the Spell and the Serpent Staff for the Saurus. I had to take one unit of Skinks because if you want to play Saurus it is 40 or 10, everything else doesn't make much sense. And 10 Saurus are too expensive by 20 points. Allegiance: Order Leaders Skink Starpriest (80) - General - Trait: Master of Defense Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) - Artefact: Relic Blade Battlemage (100) Battleline 40 x Saurus Warriors (360) - Spears 10 x Skinks (60) - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers Behemoths Bastiladon (280) Total: 980 / 1000 Allies: 0 / 200 Wounds: 74
No it wasn't changed, except if you count that one bataillon with the "free summoning" which is actually not summoning but a deep strike. EDIT: Oh and summoning get a bit better becasue our point values dropped. I'd say it has some benefits now although it is still not worth it most of the time.
