I've been toying with the idea of a Lizardmen army for a while now, so with the start of a new year, I figured I'd get off my behind and get painting. I make no claims to being a brilliant painter, I'm just a run of the mill hobbyist trying to paint miniatures and throw a few dice around. With that all said and done, I'm hoping my painting will improve and welcome and and all feedback from fellow Lustrians! What you see below is the beginning's of my army. I must say, Citadel Finecast's reputation doesn't do it justice at all, assembling the Slann Starmaster and the amount of flash on the mould was rather frustrating. Here are all of my Saurus basecoated white, they're awaiting some batch painting so I can move onto the bigger dinosaurs. Until I get some time for painting, that's all I have for progress, but here's a lonely Chaos Lord for now....
Welcome, start a painting blog so you can see your progress and you will get loads of feedback and hopefully tips that will help you improve.
Thanks for the advice there I also think it'll be great motivation for when I'm dozens of Saurus into the project as I tend to flit between armies in a butterfly like fashion... It's taken me quite a while simply to get to grips with how to get started with the blog itself! So props to n810 already!
Lizardmen and Warriors of Chaos, oh my! I also spy with my little eye a bunch of square bases (ignoring that oval for the Carno), good stuff!!! Looking forward to seeing more.
I'll post some more pics as soon as possible The Warriors of Chaos are taking a back seat for now but I've not got too much actually painted at the moment.
Is that similar to the "Tale of Four Gamers" that White Dwarf used to run when it was more than advertising?
I promised you all updated pictures so here goes! This is my trial run on my first Saurus unit, the aim was to get a decent standard across the board without investing hours and hours into every model (unfortunately in terms of painting time I've got a limited amount). I've still got the shields and details left to do (along with the bases), after that I can move onto the Cold One Riders and Skinks.
How many of those are you doing? For me Saurus Warriors are a bit tiring. I would love to test a Sunclaw one day but I would have to paint at least 40 more of them so... meh. Probably not going to happen anytime soon.
So far I've got 32 to paint up, but I've got 24x Skinks and 30x Temple Guard to do after so I'll be on the same scheme for a while. It can't all be monsters and characters unfortunately...
Man I would love to have a Bataillon allowing one or two of the big ones as Battleline... could be epic looking armies.
