Always read the fine print, some times the picture does not accurately represent the product.
Check the sellers reputation (number of stars) anything under 4.8 out of 5 is rather suspect.
Mostly shop around a bit to get a feeling what is and isn't a good deal before buying.
Sometimes you can get a good deal because the seller listed in an unpopular category.

All in all I have only had good experience with eBay over the last 10 years or so,
I got most of my army from eBay, at a reasonable price, but I an a fairly shrewd shopper.

I agree with everything that @n810 said.

I've found some amazing deals on Ebay, and my interactions have been very positive. The more patient you are, the better deal you will typically land. I find that old core units (like Saurus Warriors) can be picked up for extremely cheap. Bigger models like monsters tend to keep their value much longer, so the discount over retail will not be as pronounced (but still significant if you patiently wait for the right opportunity). Obviously things that are very newly released will be much less discounted than older (and readily available) stuff. If you ever look to pick up discontinued items, that can get prohibitively expensive.

I buy and sell regularly on ebay, as a buyer I always buy from a 99% + buyer.

Try to buy unassembled models if possible, check the p&p and ask questions a good seller will reply, always stick to a budget and avoid a bidding war with another buyer as this tends to push you higher than you want to pay, make offers if it’s a buy it now (if your given the option)

Mass sellers like Trolltrader will discount postage and he will haggle but message him

    Some good tips here!

I kinda hope someone sells Saurus Warriors that fit my army color-wise.
I probably wouldn't buy anything else Seraphon becasue I want to paint them myself but Saurus Warriors....I don't like painting them for some reason.

Oh and if you can get several items from the same vender, you can often get cheaper shipping, as they can put them in the same box.
This is referred to as "Combined Shipping".

I agree with this, I do the same thing.

Sometimes buying from international sellers can take a while. I live in the US and have bought a few hard-to-find models from Spain before, shipping can take upwards of a month sometimes or more :argh:

Hehe, its the same for us on the other side when ordering from US sellers :)

Though with the price jump USPS decided to make on international shipments a few years ago, it really makes it "impossible" to order from a US seller unless you got a drop shipper you send it to. (It's usually 30-50 dollar shipping for a tiny package from an US seller these days.)
