So, I'm trying to decide on basing for my tomb kings. I was originally going to cut out marble vynil to fit thier bases and have them stand on that. Then I thought this would be A) to uniform and B) just look like they were standing on vynil. Other options include any of my usual textures. I had thought about cracked earth, but figured this would look wrong for skellies Unfortunately I don't have any basic, squarish tiles. I have an Egyptian themed texture, but it is a wall decoration, and I wouldn't want the army to be standing on slabs of it. Otherwise I have no idea, would there be an easy way to show "fighting in a desert city"?
Sand.... Rock sand... Rocky cracked earth sand... You could paint marble using a sponge pretty easily, that'd mix it up a bit. Do that and throw some sand on top of it. Cracked earth and sand is pretty much all I got for you for deserts...
"decodadeco" ??? You could probably paint the plastic base to like somewhat like cut sandstone, and then glue on some fine sand in small piles.
Very fine dust for a desert base, perhaps with some egyptian ruin parts sticking out of the sand. You can make those ruin parts with the Egyptian rolling pin from Greenstuffworld. Use air drying polymer clay (like DAS or FIMO), no need to use expensive green stuff for that. http://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/textured-rolling-pins/367-rolling-pin-egyptian.html
I amde this thread some time ago, maybe it will inspire you: http://lustria-online.com/threads/bases-and-scenery-styles-examples-and-discussion.19852/
Ah here's the one I was looking for. https://wappellious.blogspot.com/2016_08_25_archive.html?m=1 Ps. I suspect (sandy paste) is just white glue and sand.
