I picked wolverine I don't know why he's disregarded at least against the heros with suits - for example ironman's suit is on the outside of his body whereas wolverines is inside him - once iron mans suits off he's basically a goner right? Also he has super healing powers so should be able to withstand some pretty tough abuse for some of the others on that list. Oh well I guess its about defending me so if I was protected till he was killed off as a rule of combat then I stand a good chance right? but if he had to physically stop the rest getting me it might become more of a tricky challenge

I think there are several problems with Wolverine as your protector:
    • he is slow in contrast to many of the others
    • his intelligence is not his strong suit
    • he has no way of protecting you from Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash (he may be durable... but you're not!)
    • he has absolutely no answer for Superman (Wolverine is slower, weaker, less intelligent)
    • Batman will easily outwit him
    • Wolverine has no flight capabilites

I don't know some of them really well but I'd probably go with Green Lantern or Superman as well.
Funnyx because I hate them. In fact I dislike most DC heroes a lot. Batman is... kinda ok, but I usually prefer Marvel.

Superman could take me to a planet with a sun that blocks Green Lantern out, and so far away none of the others can reach me.
Green Lantern could just wish us somewhere near a lot of Kryptonite. The paragraph below could apply for both I guess.

Another galaxy or so, too far even for Charles Xavier to find me, and definitely too far to reach me for everyone else. He could also stay near me indefinitely without having to eat drink or sleep, and he would choose a place so he would see anyone coming before they are close enough with their Kryptonite/Yellow stuff to reach him, even if they find him and go there some way. So he can throw asteroids or whatever at them before they are near.

I'm still a stickler for 8th Ed, although Kharadron Overlords and Fyreslayers appeal to me. Look at the Magmadroth! It's the Dwarfs' first ever monster!

Personally, I think this is a pretty easy choice. I would choose Batman, and here is why:

    1. Lots of money
    2. High intellect to put those money to good use protecting me (maybe even hire other superheroes, just not one of the other 8)
    3. Great strategist (the whole thing with him having a plan to take down all of the justice league)
    4. Hellbat suit (Now he can take down Darkseid, that speaks for itself I think)

If I should choose another, I would go for Iron man, but with his Uru- or endo-sym suit

You know, I only realised that I made this erratic post today - sorry fellas, what was I thinking? Maybe I had intended it to be for an AoS thread but had mistakenly put it in this one. Oh well, it was one of my first posts I think. I don't know. *shrugs*

Anyway, my answer here is Thor, even though he isn't in the list, because he is a god, simple as that. No mere mortal can kill a god!

Well they wouldn't intend to kill Thor but kill you. And I doubt Thor could do anything against Green Lantern or Superman. Those DC guys are just too OP.

Meh, Superman can be kept away by having a piece of Kryptonite around at all times, perhaps Mjollnir could be reforged so that it is lined with Kryptonite? Also, Thor can stun Superman with lightning (Electricity) and Mjollnir can be thrown at the speed of light.

Mjollnir can be used to deflect the energy beam from Green Lantern's ring, and doesn't rely upon willpower to make it stronger. Also would it possible for Thor to produce a Lightning shield around me? If so, Thor would have a good chance of keeping me safe from any of the heroes.

Yeah but Superman doesn't even have to get close, he would just throw a planet at you or something.

Well apparently Thor has destroyed planets in the past, and he would be willing to do anything to protect me according to the first post of this thread, so he could probably destroy any planets or asteroids thrown at me with Mjollnir.

The power of a fictional character is as much as the writer wants, this is much more apparent in super powerful ones.

The victor of such a match is usually decided by who the author roots for the most.

Thor is strong, but he is significantly slower than the Flash or Superman. That is a huge weakness and would make it exceedingly difficult for him to protect you against them. Remember their goal is to kill you, and not necessarily him. Also, if Thor was unable to obtain kryptonite, Superman would take him easily. I'm not even sure how well he would fair against Wonder Woman. I think she could at the very least hold him off until one of the others got to you.

Either way, Thor is not on the list. If we start picking random characters, there are far better ones: the "One Above All", Dr. Manhattan, Franklin Richards, Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet, and the list goes on and on. There are many characters that easily exceed the power of Thor or anyone else on that list.

Not necessarily - Thor can blast Superman with not just lightning but also wind, snow and frost to slow Superman down. In addition, Thor can see fast-moving objects so would always be able to judge his hammer blows and lightning strikes against Superman perfectly, despite Superman moving at many times the speed of light. Thor isn’t as slow and cumbersome as you make him out to be - the Hulk’s job is to be slow and cumbersome. Furthermore, Thor has magic which is detrimental to Superman as he has little protection against it. Superman has beaten magic users before, but Thor is centuries older than Superman and probably knows what magic can really mess him up.

As for protecting me, Thor could ask his father to protect me with the Odinforce, the most powerful magic in existence.

Thor crushes WW. Easily. Maybe he may not be able to protect me against all 9 at the same time but certainly he could take on each one one at a time and destroy them, as he has a huge amount of stamina as opposed to speed.

Superman is OP. Without kryptonite he absolutely stomps Thor. Thor might be able to track fast moving things, but nothing that is moving near the speed of light. It is simply way too much of an advantage. Thor's hammer throws are magnitudes too slow. Even lightening only travels at about 1/3 the speed of light. In regards to using wind, snow and frost against Superman, those will have a very negligible effect. Also, Superman's freeze breath can replicate all that only better. Plus his heat vision is arguably stronger than Thor's lightning.

[and just to put the speed of light into perspective, light can travel around the world 7.5 times in 1 second, Thor has never exhibited anywhere near that kind of speed]

Your point on magic is valid, Superman is susceptible to it, but I don't believe it is enough to take him down. Also, Superman has a massive intellectual advantage. Thor quite often acts brashly, which is something that a person like Superman could exploit (let alone what Batman could do with it as he works in the background)

We're not bring allies into the mix. Otherwise things get massively out of hand. Then we start bringing in the entire Justice League and the Green Lantern Corps and things get simply ridiculous.

Batman - in a straight up battle (without significant prep work) Batman easily loses
Green Lantern - a good battle, I actually think that GL gets the better of him early on, but eventually gets worn down as his power ring runs out of juice
Captain America - no contest, clear win for Thor
Iron Man - Thor wins, not right away, but Iron Man really stands no chance in the long run
Wolverine - Thor wins, Wolverine being a grounded opponent really doesn't pose much threat. He needs to get in close, but ultimately can't
Wonder Woman - This is a really good match. Both have exceptional strength and durability. Wonder Woman is more agile, but Thor has longer ranged attacks plus his hammer. I'd say Thor in the end, but it would be a WAR.
Robin - no contest here, Thor all day
Flash - Stalemate. Flash can't kill Thor, but Thor can't land a strike against Flash.
Superman - Without Kryptonite, easy win for Superman. Too strong, too fast, too smart, too many weapons
Spiderman - Spiderman is formidable, but no match against Thor

That said, Thor isn't an option on the list. You can't choose him. Otherwise I choose the One Above All and it is game, set and match.

Nope. I didn't design the original setup. Besides, he wouldn't fair all that great against the starting lineup.

The reason I made these points is I found an interesting article here that would say Thor wins against Superman and the evidence is plausible. Have a look:
    http://schmoesknow.com/comic-book-showdown-thor-vs-superman/30218/

Ok Ok, I was just thinking of ways to protect myself from the other heroes. While it would be fun to see the whole pantheon of Asgard, the Destroyer and the Einherjars protect me from the other heroes, it would cause the thread to spiral out of control like Anakin’s Podracer.

I get the picture, I was mainly advocating for Thor as he should be on the list. I was just speculating about how good he would be as a protector if he was on the list.
