Allright boys, The next big tournament in my region is at the end of April, and I intend on taking my Seraphon this time. Finished last one in february in 6th place with Tzeentch, but I believe I can take it all with the proper Seraphon list. I'm posting two lists, variants on the Kroaknado list, and over the next month I will be playtesting both, trying to update this thread with my experience and maybe link a battle report or two. Here goes: LIST #1 Kroak-Prime Shadowstrike Allegiance: Seraphon Lord Kroak (450) -General Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160) -Artefact: Incandescent Rectrices Skink Starpriest (80) -Artefact: Light of Dracothion Celestant-Prime (340) -Allies 10 x Skinks (60) -Boltspitters and Star-Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) -Boltspitters and Star-Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) -Boltspitters and Star-Bucklers Bastiladon (280) -Solar Engine 3 x Ripperdatyl Riders (140) Shadowstrike Starhost (170) Summoning: 200 Total: 2000 / 2000 Allies: 340 / 400 This list comes from @darren watson and his Kroak-Prime list, but with a bastiladon added in. Pretty straightforward, Kroak does his thing and everyone around helps to shoot down people. Celestant-Prime is the cleanup master, used as artillery ASAP as we don't really care about the attacks on the hammers (altough the option is always there in certain games where you want to wait). 200 summoning points are for the Balewind Vortex and 2 razordons. There is also the possibility of dropping the Astrolith bearer and summonning him instead, reducing our number of drops to 5, but denying us one artefact. LIST #2 ThunderKroak Allegiance: Seraphon Lord Kroak (450) -General Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160) -Artefact: Incandescent Rectrices Skink Starpriest (80) -Artefact: Light of Dracothion 10 x Skinks (60) -Boltspitters and Star-Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) -Boltspitters and Star-Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) -Boltspitters and Star-Bucklers 2 x Razordons (80) 3 x Skink Handlers (40) Bastiladon (280) -Solar Engine Bastiladon (280) -Solar Engine Troglodon (180) Thunderquake Starhost (170) Summoning: 100 Total: 2000 / 2000 Allies: 0 / 400 This one I find interesting. Combining our 2, IMO, greatest strenghts, into 1 list. Kroak does his thing as always, but is now supported by a marching thunderquake with 2 bastis and 2 razordons. shooting everyone with re-rolls. The Engine of the Gods is usually the better choice in a Thunderquake as we're usually lacking mortal wounds, but this time around Kroak has got it covered, and so we can opt for the less costly Troglodon, which can be a great hunter on his own when teleported. I like this list in theory because it sort of gives us a backup plan if our opponent invests alot of his ressources into succesfully killing Kroak. The Thunderquake can hold its own and manage to do some serious damage, more often then not closing the game for us. Like for the other list, the astrolith bearer could be dropped in favor of less drops but we would be missing on an artefact. Let me know what you guys think, all tips and ideas are welcome!
I am very interested to see the reports of list 2 as it is something we haven't seen so far and could be very fruitful !
I think with #2 you'll struggle with board control a lot but you'll be in the game until the end, I've been having a lot of joy with a heavenswatch list myself atm lost 1 in 10 so far! Both lists require a lot of concentration and skill to use, but I'm sure you'll do well!
Little bit of an update! Last weekend we had a qualifier tournament at my local store. Instead of in store prizes, the only prize was qualifying (read here paying 10 bucks now instead of 30 later) for the next big region wide tournament coming up at the start of june. This was enough for people to bring their optimised lists instead of bringing new stuff/testing funny stuff, and so the competitive field was pretty good. I ended up using List #1 to see if it had any potential. I was very positively surprised with my performance this day as I ended up first with a 3-0 score! My opponents were playing Skaven, Maggotkin of Nurgle and Mixed Order. Skaven did not scare me in the least and that Mixed Order can be scary with 4 reaper bolt thrower but he was a good friend of mine and I knew the power of his list and how to counter it properly. The game that gave me the most trouble was vs Nurgle. He had something like 40 putrid blightkings and I couldn't see myself being able to mow through quickly enough before he could score too many points. That one was a nailbiter as I ended up winning in kill points. Anyways, list #1 was expected to be relatively good (maybe not expected to win me the day but I'll take it) and so I'm more intrigued about what list #2 can achieve. Will try it out in the coming weeks too, so stay tuned! Also I might write up the battle reports of those 3 games, they were very interesting! I'll make sure to edit this post and link them here!
