I’m attending my first AoS tournament at the end of Aug. I made a list primarily out of what I have from playing casual games. Any tips/tricks, buying recommendation, or advice would be greatly appreciated. More specifically which unit should I be trying to summon with EoG or Slann? He is my current list: Slann Starmaster -incandescent rectrices -vast intellect Skink Starpriest 10x Saurus warriors 10x Saurus warriors 10x Skinks Thunderquake Starhost EoG -lens of refraction Razordon + handlers Bastiladon -solar engine Stegadon -skystreak bow Dread Suarian Chromatic Cogs ———————— Total points 2000
Nice little list, As for EOG summon up as many skinks as you can field (use them as bullet shields, attacking objectives or anything that gets close) if you run out of skink then throw in a few dactyls to drop bombs. Slaan man can summon pretty much what you want/something to counter what the opponent sends at you, you have a dread in your list which I do love seeing, so he will be a big threat (as will your slaan) so I imagine the opponent will want to try and stomp them out - save up some points for turn two (cast cogs turn one use 2x celestial storing, turn two hopefully you have +1 spell - though balewind might be better for this, store all 4 spells and summon another eog? Then you have a better chance at more skink (also the eog is quite nasty at shooting mortal wounds and let’s not forget it’s attached to a big dinosaur) = you get another big unit on the table with the ability to summon yet more units, following turns you will likely want your slaan using magic so summoning with him can take a back seat - but if you do get an extra spell of twos worth of points why not, just use them to get whatever you can - maybe a priest or astrolith bearer would be handy for their buffs but I guess it’s uo to you
Thanks, I felt that cogs was better than balewind because you can have the starpriest cast it and then use the slann to activate it in the same turn where as the balewind needs to be used by the slann so balewind only starts netting spell slots turn 3. What are your thoughts on Vast Intellect? I really like both the spells it gives but maybe I should just be forcus on summoning. In which case Arcane might could be better for the better chance of unbinding spells
Very true for cogs, you could always use both ;D for +2 spells 6more points a turn would be cool. I’m torn on the slaans abilities, it depends on the list and the opponent. But I tend to go for vast intellect as it will help keep your summoned units safe (-hits etc) and curse of fates on your EoG will help summoning (re-roll) that’s if you want to forgo some summoning points of course
