I thought i'd dive into AoS2 with one of my favourite armies (everyone loves Orcs & Goblins right?) ever since first finding Warhammer through the Lizardmen/Brettonia box set. It was a tough choice between these lovable lizards and my other love, Orcs & Goblins, but since they're now split into at least four/five different factions from my old fantasy army, i thought it would be best to start fresh.

I'm also wanting an excuse to paint something bright and colourful after months of painting Death Guard for 40k!

    So ive now landed with:

2x Start Collecting boxes (I'll be making a Carnosaur, Oldblood/Sunblood on foot, Troglodon and a second Skink Starpriest from this)
    1x Skink box
    1x Skink Starpriest
    1x Bastiladon
    1x Ripperdactyl box

Now for the main point of this log... Taking inspiration from various tropical frogs!

    Saurus inspiration:
This should be relatively easy, although slightly counter intuitive to the usual lighter underbelly of lizards. Im thinking of painting some scales black but leaving space, as in the image below, rather than painting all scales black.

    Skink inspiriation:

I was originally going to use this for my Slann since the hands are more prominent on the model, but i liked it too much to use it on just one model. Mind you, after starting this scheme i get the feeling im going to regret airbrushing individual skink hands... A lot more effort than i think Skinks are going to be worth! I do need to remember to keep it simple as well due to the amount of these im probably going to paint and my attention span. So i think i'll skip doing the lighter under body and use the blue sections of the legs as the head frill colour instead. Although, I'm stumped as to what colour the scale sections should be at the moment.

Ha, I had planned on editing the original post last night to add actual progress pics but I had to wait until a moderator approved the post first, so after work! Although, I've mostly been working on the Carnosaur which is a pretty standard colour scheme.

On a side note and I'll delete this post afterwards, if I try to edit my original post to fix errors I just get this:

You need 20 posts before you can edit, it's just a spam filter

That's easy though, just spend a few posts telling us about yourself and why you chose Seraphon and what are your favorite units. :)

    Scar Vet on Carnosaur

So this is my carnosaur. There are many like it. But this beast is mine.
I was actually torn on whether or not continue the poison dart frog theme over to the mounts or to keep their colour schemes more neutral. My concern was that they might clash or the model might just be too busy with too many bright patterned colours.

In the end I just went auto pilot on the Carnosaur because I liked the original colour scheme so much. It was also a good airbrush introduction with the model being as big as it is.

I'll edit this post with the rider hopefully tonight.

The Riflemans Creed, as made famous by Full Metal Jacket! Or, in this case, The Carnousaurs Creed, as made famous by Cromags! I am a bit of a novice, and have never used an airbrush, but your Carnosaur is aces, and I just might have to spend some money on an airbrush myself!

My second Carnosaur is also planned to be painted by airbrush, my first project with the airbrush outside of priming.

I also like the classic paint scheme a lot. Good job on that, the transitions look nice!

    You got it ;)

Honestly, this was just a £10 airbrush... Couldnt recommend it highly enough. Especially if you're just starting. I couldnt do small details or anything yet, but its really useful for practising air pressure and things. I love how it looks when two colours blend with an airbrush, rather than having two flat colours next to each other.

I think i messed up on my drybrushing though and went too heavy in some places, which you can see close up. But for tabletop its fine :)

I've never tried applying inks through an airbrush though... thats something im going to have to practice with next.

Just be careful with the inks as they will run if you overload.

Yeah, i think i might just stick to the brush method for inks. Seems a lot less hassle and ill have more control over it.

Ha-ha, I made my bloat-toad from the Ripperdactyl-set in the look of the red eyed frog.
I love your idea of making the skinks in that colour scheme!

So just a little updated. Haven't had as much time as i'd have liked to paint recently, but i have managed to find a local club, so i'll actually learn and play the game this time!

The Skink Oracle from the Troglodon set. I will make the handle in the left arm into something eventually... but it's not a major concern since i'm not entirely sure i'll ever use more than one Starpriest in a game.

    Skink oracle.jpg

Some Skinks may have been injured in the making of this post. The colours are so bright my camera was really struggling to pick them up, hence the need for shadow...

    Skink Starpriest.jpg

Im still not sure what colour to paint the back scales though. The neck frill is already going to be blue... So my choices are either a dark shade of green or blue to match the frill i think.

The Saurus Scar-Vet didnt come out as planned. So im going to try and change the technique with the Saurus Warriors. They're nowhere near as bright in colour as the blue frog above.

That carnosaur looks great, as does the base for your priest. More pics!
