    Hey all,

I'm just wondering what's considered the best all-around 2k army lists for Seraphon. I know there are a lot of archetypes such as summoning heavy lists, kroaknado, shadowstrike, etc. but I want to get an idea of which of these the community feels are the best and most reliable (along with their respective lists of course).

It is probably between Shadowstrike Starhost and Thunderquake. The nerf to Kroak on the FAQ knocked him down a peg, as did the nerf to Ripperdacylts. Single drop Fangs of Sotek in a summon heavy list is also quite viable for tournament play. For the best all-around list I would choose Thunderquake. There are very few things that it is weak against. The only downside to the Thunderquake list is that it does not fit any of your battleline or your Slann into the battalion which means you are look at a minimum of five drops.

@LizardWizard I'm actually looking into eternal + shadow and eternal + thunder (fangs of sotek is too expensive imo). You have any example lists for shadow or thunder?

I was thinking of this for my eternal + shadow:

    + Leader +
Saurus Astrolith Bearer [160pts]: 2. Lens of Refraction
Slann Starmaster [260pts]: 2. Incandescent Rectices, 3. Great Rememberer, General

    + Battalion +
    Battalion: Eternal Starhost [560pts]
. Saurus Eternity Warden: 3. Mirrored Curiass
. Saurus Guard: 5 Saurus Guard
. Saurus Guard: 5 Saurus Guard
. Saurus Guard: 5 Saurus Guard

Battalion: Shadowstrike Starhost [1020pts]: Skink Starpriest
    . Chameleon Skinks: 2x 5 Chameleon Skins
    . Ripperdactyl Riders: 2x 3 Ripperdactyl Riders
    . Skinks: 4x 10 Skinks, Boltspitters and Star-bucklers
(tried rolling with an EotG but found it unreliable in this list)

And I was thinking of this for my eternal + thunder:
(Still need realms and artefacts. Not sure what to get)
    + Leader +
    Saurus Astrolith Bearer [160pts]
    Slann Starmaster [260pts]

    + Battalion +
Battalion: Eternal Starhost [560pts]: Saurus Eternity Warden
. Saurus Guard: 5 Saurus Guard
. Saurus Guard: 5 Saurus Guard
. Saurus Guard: 5 Saurus Guard

Battalion: Thunderquake Starhost [1020pts]: Engine of the Gods
    . Bastiladon: Solar Engine
    . Bastiladon: Solar Engine
    . Hunting Pack
    . . Salamanders: 2x Salamander
    . . Skink Handlers: 3 Skink Handlers

Eternal starhost looks good on paper but guards are easily dealt with when MW are flying around, they are expensive, if they were 2 wounds yes but for tournaments I would stay away from the Eternal.

Thunderquake and Shadowstrike are the 2 I would try to use.

@Crowsfoot said it well. Eternal Starhost gets chewed up by mortal wounds. One possible dual Thunderquake/Shadowstrike list could look something like:

    - Allegiance: Seraphon

    LEADERS:
    Slann Starmaster
    (260)
    - General
    - Command Trait : Great Rememberer
    Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160)
    Engine of the Gods (220)
    Skink Starpriest (80)

    Units:
    1 x Razordons (40)
    3 x Skink Handlers (40)
    10 x Skinks (60)
    -Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
    10 x Skinks (60)
    -Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
    10 x Skinks (60)
    -Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
    3 x Ripperdactyl Riders (140)

    BEHEMOTHS:
    Bastiladon
    (280)
    Bastiladon (280)
    BATTALIONS:
    Thunderquake Starhost
    (120)
    Shadowstrike Starhost (180)

    TOTAL: 2000/2000 EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 2 WOUNDS: 88 LEADERS: 4/6 BATTLELINES: 3 (3+) BEHEMOTHS: 3/4 ARTILLERY: 1/4 ARTEFACTS: 0/3

If you ran this list you would have a Four drop list. There are a number of Realms of Origin and a few different paths you could take for artifacts.

Personally, I prefer not to mix Thunderquake Starhost with any other Battalions. The formation feels strong enough on it owns and is very points intensive to run optimally. Shadowstrike also does best when you are taking at least one 40 man unit of skins and ideally 6 Ripperdactyls.

    Hope this was helpful.

I think the Sunclaw Starhost/Fangs of Sotek gets slept on. With 2 squads of 40 saurus and the new summoning you stick around forever, and the extra movement from FoS + getting first turn means your usually on objectives first.

I've been playing a variation of it down at my store and having a blast. You just clog up so much space and grind stuff down, while your summoned units can jump on backfield objectives (skinks) or provide support (rippers).

I've yet to face any of the 2.0 heavy hitters (daughters/legions) but have done well against decently competitive nurgle, tzeentch, and stormcast lists.

I too love Fangs of Sotek. I think it is less tournament viable than Thunderquake or Shadowstrike Starhost, but it is still my favorite to run.

See, I dunno. I think it has a space to play, especially considering a sunclaw list showed up in the top tables of the London GT and that was pre summoning.

I do think shadow and thunder are more obviously good, but we will see what rises to the top.

Yeah, summoning makes many things more viable. The real power of FoS is that you are a one drop list. So if you run Slannado then it makes it more likely that you have choice of turn priority and can get your Balewind and Cogs up. Also going first with Great Remember means you will likely have a minimum two objectives under your control for most match play Battleplans.

I think regardless of the allegiance ability, FoS does a great job of hopping on points early. 16'' move saurus warriors (with march) is pretty awesome for clogging up a board turn 1.

I'm really excited to see what starts rising to the top as 2.0 plays out a little bit. I think summoning gives us tons of options, and I think we'll start to see some different lists pop up.

@LizardWizard I would love to run that list but it's expensive to buy lmao. The reason I'm so adamant about using guards is because I want to avoid painting mass chaff units (also guards and warden are cool). I definitely want my 2k list to run either shadowstrike or thunder as the meat and damage source of the army (leaning towards shadow right now because I have 2 units of chamo, 1 ripper, and with plans to buy 40 skinks) with the option of summoning via slann/astro (maybe eotg but I heard that it's unreliable to get the 14-17 roll).

What do you use for your 2k shadow? What's your 1k build that you use to build up to said 2k list?

I would run a heavy saurus list IF GW ends up fixing bloodclaw. My oldblood is getting dusty...

I watched a guy in store play seraphon - he used a strange list (basically shadow strike) and a whole bunch of razordons (2x4 units) he ported them both in closely followed by his rippers and chameleons - caused utter carnage
    - his slaan and engines just sat back pumping out a few units and stegs just wondered up and sat on objectives.

Those razors took out a lot of nurgle demons very quickly (both units sat next to each other) - fired and sat there, he got charged and one unit fired back mullering them all, they then got ported to the opposite side and did the same - rippers did their usual stuff on a greater demon (struggled to kill it but did manage to) the razors and chameleons finished off the second greater. The guy just gave up

Very much considering a similar army...just need to find/make a lot of horrible razor models

@Deed525 I was thinking about doing something like that but 1 razordon is $30 in addition to being ugly and we all know aesthetics take precedence

I made such a list back in 2017 when we first got LoSaT. I lack the actual models to do this but it was basically like this:

Competitive? Probably not. It would basically use the Skinks as chaff, summon even more stuff, and shoot everything with lots of Razordons.
Could also be played with Salamanders but Razordons are nice since they discourage charges. Here is a modernized version, just for teh lulz:

    Allegiance: Seraphon

    Leaders
    Slann Starmaster (260)
    - General
    - Trait: Vast Intellect
    - Artefact: Incandescent Rectrices
    Skink Starpriest (80)
    Skink Priest (80)
    - Priestly Trappings
    Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160)
    - Artefact: Prism of Amyntok

    Battleline
    10 x Skinks (60)
    - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers
    10 x Skinks (60)
    - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers
    10 x Skinks (60)
    - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers

    Units
    4 x Razordons (160)
    4 x Razordons (160)
    4 x Razordons (160)
    4 x Razordons (160)
    10 x Chameleon Skinks (240)
    3 x Ripperdactyl Riders (140)

    Battalions
    Shadowstrike Starhost (180)

    Endless Spells
    Soulsnare Shackles (20)
    Quicksilver Swords (20)

    Total: 2000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 118

Lol that looks like a nasty ass list (expensive to buy)

The razordon model isn’t the worst looking we have...but far from the best and yeah at the prices ones at - I don’t think I’ll be doing that list anytime soon lol.

Sadly scratch building that many would also drain what’s left of my soul lol
