Ok so there is an escalation campain at my local gaming club that starts this Friday and this is will be my first game with the mighty lizards and I need some help! The rules are 1 Hero and 1 Battleline (other then that normal Vanguard rules) I know there will be atleast 3 Stormcasts, a Sylvaneth and a orc player. So far I have 3 army ideas which one do you guys likes best? Army 1: "It is all about the summons" Slann Starmaster Saurus Astrolith Baearer 10 x Skinks Soulsnare Shakles 500p on the nose ok so I like this but is scares me abit since I have not learnd all the rules for my lizzards yet. and the summons opens up so much of the army and I am affraid I will forget important rules Army 2: "Metric F ton of lizzards" Saurus Oldblood 40x Saurus Warriors 480p This is easy and simple, just a big bloob of lizzards that eat everything, but I think it will be hard to hold objectives. Army 3: "Big stuff is scary!" Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur Troglodon 10x Skinks 480p Two scary dinos and some skinks to hold an objective. might work... Please let me know what you think
I like your second list. I would recommend a Sunblood over an Oldblood though. Being able to reroll failed hits will net you more damage in most cases than having 3" more movement will. If you go with a Sunblood you should check out Ghyrstrike from the Artifacts of the Realms found in Malign Sorcery book.
Unless I (and by that I mean Battle scribe) am missing something your maths for option 2 is out. With ether an old blood or sun blood having 40 Saurus worriers would put you over by 20 points at 520 pts. That said I would be inclined to go with option 2 using a sun blood. It is just unfortunate that it can’t be put out as a sun claw formation as it would again go over on points. Then again having 30 Saurus warriors with an old blood/sun blood leaves you with 80 pts which is enough space for ether a razordon/ Salamander as mid range support, or 10 skink to possibly run around taking objectives. Thanks alot guys! I will try list number two, and I like the idea of swapping out the oldblodd for a sunblood. now I just need to convert and paint one from my bits box it looks like alot of cool synergies and I love how much of a beast the sunblood becomes with the right upgrades
