    Hi,

I'm a fairly new AoS player who started with Sylvaneth just before 2.0 dropped, and quickly realised that I was having no fun getting the snot kicked out of me, so changed to Seraphon.

At the time, I read that 2x SCB was the way to go (Which seems to be the case still now?), though I'm confused about the choice for 1k as everyone seems to be running/recommending Slann/Skink lists on here at the moment?

Having already bought the two boxes, my cookie-cutter list looks like:

    Scar-vet on Carn (240)
    Oldblood (120)
    Trog (160)
    Knights x5 (90)
    Knights x5 (90)
    Warriors x10 (100)
    Warriors x10 (100)

Which takes me to 900. I've read the conversion thread so I know I can get a lot more out of my stuff, but I'm just wondering if I need to buy anything else to make this list playable at a casual level (no intention of tournaments). Alternatively do I just need to pick either the Scar-vet on Cold One conversion or the Skink Priest conversion and throw it in and potentially just eat the floating 20pts?

I don't want to buy a tonne of extra stuff but I'm happy to stretch to a couple of extra units if I need to. My friends play Nighthaunt, Stormcast, Khorne & Kharadron.

I would follow @Crowsfoot conversion guide to turn one of the Trog riders into a Skink Starpriest and make one of your Knights into a Scarvet on Cold one. Either of those two options would be the best way to fill out your 100 left over points. Against Khorne I would take the Starpriest for Summon Starlight.

    With 2SC you should have 16 Knights (8 * 2) no?

Well if your friends are going to play in hard level, Nighthunt are going to be really difficult (i have 2 SC and i can not win against him xD).

I would buy a bastiladon and a Skink Starpriest, you could switch troglodon and oldblood with the bastiladon against some opponents.

Seraphon have a hard time preforming at only 1k. You can make a pretty brutal Shadowstrike Starhost that is a 1k turn one win (most of the time), but it doesn't use any of the SCBox units.

One of the problems with Seraphon is that with minor conversions 2 SC boxes give you a LOT of points, saving a LOT of money (the great value of the box itself, plus the starpriest or saurus on foot, plus the Scar Veteran on cold one, plus the Astrolith), but most of these units become viable only at high point games, while you have to pay a lot for the best (overall or at 1k) models, some of which are almost essential.

24 € for a Salamander or Razordon (and many use 4 of them)
    40 € for a Slann
45 € for big dinos (Basti, Stega)
45 € for 3 Terradons/Ripeprdactyls (and usally in a Shadowstrike you want 6 of them)
    etc etc

My friends have about the same amount of experience playing as me, though unfortunately I think the Nighthaunt player manages to default to really cheesy lists every time, so I don't favour my chances against him.

I will have 16 knights, but it sounds like that wouldn't be of any benefit (unless the Cold One provides some benefit to that lineup outside of a Firelance Starhost?)

    Really?
I'd say the opposite: at 1000 pts Seraphon are brutal, as they can really optimize the advantage granted by summonings.
That and teleport gives you an absolute battlefield control, that the opponent struggles to stop with only 1000 pts.

But we have to go either full glass cannon shadowstrike, either summoning heavy. Quite brutal, as you say, but nothing useful in that sense comes from the SC boxes and you need a lot of cash.

GuaDan read the whole comment. We are fine at 1k, we just don't use any SCbox stuff for it. Also, in a grander scheme, Nurgle, Khorne, Death, and Nighthaunt all out preform most of our 1k summon list.

Yes, from the SC box you would only pick useful units to be summoned.
