So, I'll be playing my first matches since the original version of GHB in a couple of weeks. I'm going to play 2k fights, against Khorne and Nighthaunt and probably them against a 4k list of mine. I have absolutely no idea what to pitch against them since it's been so long since I played and back then I had to build with the main focus on killing Archaon... That's why I need you guys! My Nighthaunt buddy shared his list but the Khorne guy won't. Nighthaunt: Leaders Lady Olynder Spirit Torment Coven Throne Cairn Wraith Battleline Chainrasp Horde x20 Grimghast Reapers x30 Spirit Hosts x6 Hexwraiths x5 Other Bladegheist Revenants x20 Chainghasts x2 And what I have to pick from: 40 saurus warriors clubs or spears 30 templeguards 24 skinks 20 knights with lances 20 chameleon skinks 2 bastiladon snakes or beam 2 stegadon/engine of the gods 1 troglodon 1 oldblood/scarvet on carno (magnetized) 1 Lord Kroak 1 Slann 1 Astro bearer 1 Eternity Warden 1 Oldblood 1 Sunblood 1 Priest (the old model, not sure what he counts as?) 2 starpriests 20 chameleon skinks 9 kroxigor 6 ripperdactyl 3 terradon 3 Scar vet on cold one 3 salamander 9 handlers (2 Battlemages) Any ideas?
The good part is that the chainrasp horde is only 20 models, so you could wipe them away before they start to be raised (a thing much more difficult against a horde 40 strong). Your starting point should be the Slann + astrolith + EotG. Then you could think to a shadowstrike starhost and put those 6 rippers in the sky. They will act as great killers, especially if lady Olinder is left alone. your 40 saurus could forme a nice horde, and with teleport + Oldblood you should be able to dictate the charge and wipe away some large target, especially if you keep the Astrolith in range for rerolls. As an alternative, you can always use a 20 saurus knights block and buff it with a starpriest serpent staff, doing the same thing. Then go for summon and spam the battlefield with terradons and bastiladon
Kill the heroes. For both Nighthaunt and Khrone actually. Try to kill the Khorne Heroes at range, they are beasty in combat. Shadowstrike is probably your best option vs both of those armies. Volume of fire or high damage profile fire is key to killing Nighthaunt. If you go shadowstrike I might include the 15-20 Chameleon Skinks. You could try a list like this: Allegiance: Seraphon - Mortal Realm: Ghur LEADERS: Slann Starmaster (260) - General - Command Trait : Great Rememberer - Artefact : Gryph-feather Charm Engine of the Gods (220) - Artefact : Rockjaws Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160) Skink Starpriest (80) UNITS: 6 x Ripperdactyl Riders (280) 10 x Skinks (60) -Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) -Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 15 x Chameleon Skinks (360) 5 x Saurus Knights (90) -Lances 4x Razordon (160) BATTALIONS: Shadowstrike Starhost (180) ENDLESS SPELLS: Balewind Vortex (40) TOTAL: 1950/2000
I've seen this mentioned a lot, what exactly does it do? The model looks cool but I haven't read the rules for it..
