Hi folks, Lastly i have been wondering about starting in Hordes of The Things, with 1/72 miniatures. However, i dont like permanent multi basing because i loose the chance to play skirmish games and similar stuff. Then, i want to ask you ¿Can i base the minis in 5/16 iron washers and put them in magnetic sabots? Regarding the sabot`s size, i would have to increase a bit the frontal and width lenght (maybe 60x40). I already made a base of 80x40mm. Thanks a lot!!
That sounds like a good plan. HotT players don’t get super fussed about the way things are based. Washers are available in a large range of sizes. Look for “fender washers” those have smaller inside holes relative to diameter, thus more metal to stick to a magnet. It would be best to design your sabots to the standard frontage, that is important in HoTT. Remind me what the standard frontage is for the figures you want to use? I remember 40mm is normal for 15mm tall models.

You are right, 40mm frontside its the standard for 15mm miniatures, athought being the 1/72 miniatures at the same distance from 25mm than 15mm (5mm less or 5mm more), i would rather choose to try measures for 25mm (actually 60mm in the elements frontage). Only for the sake of guarantee more space to place the washers.
I mean, as 1/72 (20mm) measures are not specified in the rulebook, i can round them to the upper scale to take more advantage from the space. I mean, 20mm its equally close to 15mm as 25mm.
Hi, im sorry for delaying the reply. The rulebook make reference to 6mm, 10mm, 15 mm, 25 and 28mm. They are mainly classified between 15mm and smaller and 25mm and higher. That its why i suposse that being 1/72 in the middle range i could choose the big ones. But whereas that i am basing in washers, i still needing a longer width to put 4 minis at an single infantry base. If you take a look to some internet examples, 1/72 players can place the minis together in the official sizes because they directly glue the minis together. Then, less space is wasted without the washers, but you cant remove the minis to play skirmish games (SAGA, song of blades and heroes, etc) or even place the minis in bigger sabot to try IMPETUS, etc). Cheers!!!
I remember an Internet example of a Bretonnian themed HotT Army. The solution was three Men-at-Arms on an infantry base. Not four. Two Cavalry (Knights) per Base. http://www.hourofwolves.org/?view=armies&which=bretonnia&full=1 Would that work?
Yeah, its sound pretty well for me. Thanks for the advice. Now its time to put hands in the workshop table!!
I may be doing some Math’s wrong. 5/16” Washers? 5/16ths x 4figs = 20/16ths 20/16ths = 1.25 inches. (One and a quarter) That is about 32mm for four figures. That oughta work with either the 40 or 60mm width.
