So pretty simple I'm at a point where I want to push my painting along and I want to look at getting single models/units.

What model/unit from each faction do you love and why?

Only one model/unit allowed past or present.

I will add mine when I decide which ones :D

Seraphon: Slann I love the pose like hes contemplating

Deathrattle: Wight king with Black Axe, this model just looks evil

Orruks: Warchanter, humour and an epic pose

    SCE: Neave Blacktalon @NIGHTBRINGER

Fyreslayers: The Magmadroth, because it has an epic pose and the Runefather just looks awesome, staring grumpily at an enemy as if silently saying “You’re next!”.

Lizardmen: The Oldblood on Carnosaur (not just Kroq-Gar who’s now the AoS Oldblood, the regular Fantasy Oldblood on Carnosaur you can make from the kit), as he looks really muscly and formidable and the Carnosaur I actually thought looked better than the previous version because it was less obviously-T-Rex. The new model suggests a different strategy for killing its prey - that it uses its gigantic claws to rake huge gashes into its victim before using its jaws to finish it off.

Dwarfs: I would have to say Thorgrim because he is bellowing our grudges from the book, his throne is magnificent and his thronebearers are in truly heroic poses (just a shame he was so expensive!).

Orcs and Goblins: The Night Goblin Fanatics kit - it’s so customisable despite having so few posable bits. I’ve even been able to make a Fanatic whose ball and chain is embedded into the ground and the Fanatic is bouncing over the top, in the style of one of the old metal models.

Skaven: The Screaming Bell. A truly huge, terrifying model that I imagine was the biggest ever when it was first released, and a true delight to build and complete.

Tyranids: The Swarmlord, THE best villain in the 40K galaxy. ‘Nuff said.

Necrons: Anrakyr the Traveller. I don’t know why particularly, but I’ve always liked the model and the character.

Orks: The Trukk - it was such fun to build and paint and I haven’t got the Battlewagon yet.

I need pictures for this. At this point I don’t know everything there is to choose from. Also, some factions have now fractured into sub-factions..?..how many wood elf choices would that be?

Lizardmen➡ Slann Mage Priest: My all time favourite Warhammer model. How can you not love our big magical toad? Reminds me of Wart in Super Mario Bros. 2

Tomb Kings➡ Casket of Souls: This is the first model I think of when I think of Tomb Kings. Egyptian version of the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Sepulchral Stalkers, Ushabti and Sphinx get honourable mentions. Tough choice!

Warriors of Chaos➡ Hellcannon: The cannon looks great. The Chaos Dwarf crew are perfect. Great bludgeoning tool during rules arguments ;)

Dark Elves➡ Witch Elves: Awesome sculpts. I actually own a couple of boxes that I hope to use as Slaaneshi marauders for my WoC army.

Wood Elves➡ Glade Lord with Great Weapon: Such a great pose. A badass looking character (even if he is only an elf)

Dwarfs➡ Thorgrim Gudgebearer: Nice large centerpiece model. Love the look and concept of the book of grudges.

    Ogre Kingdoms➡
Stonehorn: Just narrowly defeating the Thundertusk. Absolutely love the mount with the huge horns and scared face.

High Elves➡ Archmage on Dragon: This one wins out based purely on the dragon, which is my favorite non-forgeword dragon. Looks great taking flight off the rocks.

Daemons of Chaos➡ The Lord of Change: Speaking of the new plastic one of course. Epic model with great details. Big beautiful magical bird! Will it be dethroned by a new Keeper of Secrets?... time will tell.

    Empire➡
Celestial Hurricanum: The big solar system contraption on the top is unique and awesome. Lots of great details.

Vampire Counts➡ Coven Throne: The vampire and handmaidens look good, but the real star are the ghostly apparitions. Honourable mention goes to the Wight King, which is also a great model.

Orcs & Goblins➡ Wurrzag: His mask is epic. Such a characterful model. The staff, headdress and squig are pure orcy goodness.

Beastmen➡ Chaos Giant: I'm not a huge fan of the Beastmen aesthetically. The giant is pretty cool though and comes with so many customizations!

Skaven➡ Screaming Bell: A Skaven icon in every sense of the word! That bell is great.

Bretonnia➡ Grail Reliquae: A funny model that is well executed. Not a huge fan of Bretonnia models to be honest.

Bonus! Forgeworld Model Chaos War Mammoth: Everything about this model is epic. I'd own one if it wasn't so insanely expensive!! I have a conversion planned, but it will never match up to the FW original.

    Ok, here we go:

    For Order:

    - Idoneth Deepkin: Lotann (the guy with the octopus).
    - SCE: ....hmmm.. the Lord Aquilor I think
    - Seraphon.... actually a hard choice. I'll go for the Bastiladon or maybe the Stegadon
    - Daughters of Khaine: Morathi
    - Kharadron Overlords: The Ironclad
    - Sylvaneth: Alarielle. That huge Beetle!
    - Fyreslayers: Auric Runefather on Magmadroth
    - Free Peoples: General on Griffon
    - Wanderers: Nomad Prince
    - Dispossessed: Longbeards, specifically the guy with the shield
    - Ironweld Arsenal: The Gyrobomber
    - Devoted of Sigmar: Witch Hunter
    - Darkling Covens: Black Guard, specifically their banner bearer
    - Collegiate Arcane: The blue Battle Wizard with the ball.
    - Eldritch Council: Archmage on Dragon
    - Scourge Privateers: Fleetmaster
    - Phoenix Temple: Frostheart Phoenix
    - Order Serpentis: War Hydra
    - Swifthawk Agents: Skycutters
    - Order Draconis: Dragon Blades
    - Lion Rangers: White Lion Chariot
    - Shadowblades: Assassin

Cool idea! I will use @NIGHTBRINGER 's format because that is how I still organize GW's fantasy line in my head.

Lizardmen➡ Saurus Scar Vet on Foot: First character model I painted up (skink priests don't count) and the main reason I picked Lizardmen instead of Dwarfs! Actually have this one too.

Bretonnia➡ Green Knight: Never bought him, because I was too indimidated to paint him :( So I painted the rest of my Lustrian Bretonnian army green instead! :D

Empire➡ Empire Wizards: Got it and love it. Made four wizards out of the set, so many cool options!

Dwarfs➡ Long Drong Slayer: Da pirates mate. Da pirates. Someday I will get them.

Wood Elves➡ Glade Lord with Great Weapon: I agree with this one completely, same reasons as @NIGHTBRINGER. My brother has this guy, he is epic.

Vampire Counts➡ Krell (Wight King w/ Black Ax): If @Crowsfoot means the model that used to be Krell than I agree completely. Loved that model. Though a SUPER close second is the generic Wight King, which I do own because the model is awesome.

Orcs & Goblins➡ Wurrzag: I always liked the Savage Orcs, just got a few of those a few months back and painted them. Da Prophet himself would be a nice addition.

Warriors of Chaos➡ Nurgle Lord on Steed: The one with the droopy hood. Reminds me of a diseased ringwraith :D

Tomb Kings➡ Casket of Souls: If I would have to pick one, I would do this one. Or just the generic Tomb King skeleton dudes to use in a pulp game!

    Ogre Kingdoms➡ TBD
    Dark Elves➡ TBD
    High Elves➡ TBD
    Daemons of Chaos➡ TBD
    Beastmen➡ TBD
    Skaven➡ TBD

Any plans to do a head swap so they look like Bretonnian footknights? I have seen pix. They look pretty cool.

What counts as cheap for these figures?
