Going to be playing a couple of smaller games soon, thought I'd give Sunclaw a try. The two Skinks are there so that the Priest can use their Celestial Rites ability on my Warriors to make them beefier, and so that my Starpriest can Envenom their bites, and Summon Starlight to help them survive. What do you guys think?

    Mortal Realm: Ghyran

    Saurus Sunblood (120)
    - General
    - Trait: Mighty War Leader
    - Artefact: Ghyrstrike

    - Priestly Trappings
    - Artefact: Prism of Amyntok

    Skink Starpriest (80)

    Battleline
    40 x Saurus Warriors (360)
    - Spears
    10 x Saurus Warriors (100)

It may not be the most competitive list ever but I sure think it will be fun to play.

And if you manage to buff the 40-man group of Saurus up with everything you have they can hit really hard. :)

Consider the Ghyrstrike artifact for the sunblood (+1 to hit/wound), its really fun to play. It will hit/wound on 2+ and trigger ”ferocious rage” on 5+ instead of 6+.

Also you can have 2 artifacts in this list because of the battalion :)

Thanks guys! I played this recently and it was a close battle, but I won in the end as my massive blob of Saurus Warriors just teleported around the field mopping up dryads and squishy Sylvaneth casters ;) For the entire game I wasn't able to cast Summon Starlight or get a successful Celestial Rite off, but the sheer numbers of the horde outmatched his more varied list.

Still, moving that many minis around a table... what a pain in the ***.

You might want to get some movement trays! (five Saurus on each)
It makes moving them a lot less tedious.

I do the same with my Skinks and especially with my Skeletons, as those are even worse, considering that I often play 80+ of them.

If you have access to a 3d printer, there are instructions out there. Otherwise check out ebay but they are super over costed compared to the manufacturing price..

Yeah, expect to spend 70-100 bucks on movement trays for a full sunclaw army.

I'm going through that painful experience right now.

I'm definitely going to try this list out since my old list isn't as viable anymore with the Astrolith Bearer being nerfed. I saw the nerf and immediately saw Sunblood as a viable replacement so this may be a suitable list replacement in general. Great list!

Well it sucks that the Astro Bearer got nerfed but the Skink Priest with Priestly Trappings is not. It can do so much.

Just a point on the astrolith nerf and slightly off topic but before it use to say "any failed hit rolls" now it just says "you can re-roll hit rolls" this allows it to mitigate the whole rerolls before modifiers problem, it also allows a Sunblood with Ghystrike to reroll his 2,3 and 4 hits to hopefully get a 5 or 6 for exploding attacks at the small risk of then rolling a 1, a risk worth taking I feel.

Yeah, Astrolith bearer has been nerfed and buffed at the same time.
It's just a matter to learn how to employ it to exploit the advantages.
