For the sake of the question, consider that each group includes all media (movies, television, comics, novels, video games, toys, art, etc. etc.) associated with the franchises. Imagine if you had to completely forget (and never re-acquire) one of these sets of franchises. Which set would you choose to keep and which would you choose to forget? And why?

I'm normally a pretty opinionated person (surprise!) and I usually fall onto one side or another. In these theoretically choices/debates, I usually have no problem choosing and adamantly defending :)angelic:) a side. I must admit that this one has me stumped. Star Wars is my favourite of the six, but it is counterbalanced by The Walking Dead being by far my least favourite of the six. While the MCU is better than its DC counterpart, that is quickly balanced with things like Christopher Nolan's Batman series or the Batman Animated Series, etc.

So what do you all think?

Do you mean to say that you haven't watched/read/interacted with any of the six franchises?

That makes sense, if you only have had interaction with one of them, and you enjoyed it, then the group it belongs to is the winner!

I must admit I have the same problem as you do - I love Star Wars as probably everyone here knows, but I really am uninterested in watching the Walking Dead (Zombie films and media are generally not my thing at all - the only Zombie-related thing I’ve ever seen is Shaun of the Dead and that’s more of a comedy spoof of a zombie film). I’d have to say DC, Star Trek and Game of Thrones, as I’ve seen all the old Superman films and the 60s Batman series (I know you all say there is much better stuff around but both of those still count as you did say ALL media), I love Star Trek almost as much as Star Wars and I’d much rather watch the fantasy GoT than the vile Walking Dead any day of the week.

    Star Wars >>> Star Trek
    Marvel <<< DC
Walking Dead and Game of Thrones... Meh. Never seen either.
For that reason I don’t think I can choose

It’s a draw in my eyes, not bothered for DC or Marvel, not interested in Star trek or the walking dead.

I absolutely love Star Wars and Game of Thrones.

I am eagerly waiting for Game of Thrones final season to premiere. I enjoy my membership to DC Universe. Star Trek Discovery and the recent movies are abominations but I still have a backlog of TNG and Voyager to watch.

Marvel consistently makes better movies than DC but DC is gaining ground. Also DC's television shows are generally better. I never watched a single episode of the Walking Dead. I am of course watching the next Avenger's movie, then I predict the Marvel EU is going to decline fast after that.

Star Wars episode 4 through 6 are timeless classics. Episodes 1-3 had their flaws but they had their charm. Unfortunately no new Star Wars has been made since.

I think so too. Endgame is aptly named!

Speaking of Endgame, it is going to destroy the box office. Here in Canada, the theater websites crashed because of all the people buying advanced tickets. I couldn't get any tickets for the Thursday premiere, but at least I managed to get some for the Friday.

I cannot vote. I will not choose Star Trek over Star Wars or vice versa. Even though I am not a huge fan of the new Star Trek stuff but like the new Star Wars stuff well enough.

DC vs Marvel is easy for me, Marvel wins.
GoT is nice but wouldn't influence the decision much.
Walking Dead is Zombies, so that is negative.

    Yeah, that's not easy.

Marvel is superior to DC, but not for everything, and DC got some excellent things. Advantage goes to Group 2

Star Wars is sperior to Star Trek, but once again, Star Trek is far from bad. The advantage of Group 2 increases

GoT is superior to WD. WD was truly good at the beginning, but it rather quickly went down a hole. So Group 1 recovers some ground.

Group 2 is overall better than group 1, but I don't want to lose GoT.

A poll you say? Too easy.

    Batman wins.
    Kirk wins.
Ice King = lord of zombies > walking dead

… though there is also Wolverine, are X-Men still under fox/warner bros? Or did Marvel buy him up now too?

Of course X-Men are Marvel, what else?

    Fun fact about DC:
I was never a huge fan, but I must say the "Gotham" TV show is pretty well done, and I know the universe just well enough to get most of the references and know a bit about the characters.
That show has improved DCs standing in my mind a lot.

I need to reason in a way different from the one i was trying to follow.
Up til now, I was trying to decide the overall best combination… but we also must keep in mind that we are going to forget one of those groups. So, what i really don't want to lose?

Batman is cool but so are x-men and many Marvel characters. But there's no one that "OMG i cannot afford it's loss"
GoT is fantastic, an exceptional saga. But i lived well prior to it.

But my childhood was marked by the original trilogy of SW. I saw A new hope at theatre when i was 8, and Empire when i was 11...
A good portion of my SF tastes comes from that. I would be a different person without SW.

I simply cannot discard it. There, I've made my choice…. still not an easy one.

My choice was also made this way. I grew up on Star Trek original series (taped from the re-runs during the 80s by my uncle), and had to go with them.

    Agreed!
