Oh those people are just lame. At this point they are really missing out. Most writing I have seen is just bad but the stuff here, is awesome. Way better than the official books.

Patience is the god (goddess?) of quality. The reviews/thoughts that come late are usually pretty amazing.

You didn't review all the stories :p

So as it’s very late and most of what I would say have already been said, from the depths of the ongoing Moulder Pitfighting campaign I have dragged the insane Skaven Vampire Hissk (formerly Assassin Grrzzzik) across worlds to read these stories and react...

    Story One:

    Hissk: Creepy Scale-thing star-things stab-stab backs. Hissk confused. Thought-thought scale-things fight-slay creepy-things not drop-drop rocks on all meat-meats. But Hissk no-no scent-see much scale-things let-let alone star-thing scale-things, maybe they crazy-strange? Hissk no like them. No-no.

    Story Two:

Hissk: More creepy-things, Hissk no like nether-things, no-no. Hissk scent-know Var-thing’s pain-hurt. Coward-thing Grrzzzik was idiot-stupid, got Grrzzzik kill-slain made Hissk dead-dead. But Hissk dead-dead and no die-die. Perhaps Var-thing like Hissk? Hissk no like that, only one-one Hissk...

    Story Three:

Hissk: Bird-thing remind Hissk of feather-thing back at lab-place. Hissk no like feather-thing after feather-thing kick Hissk in face-flesh. Bird-thing sad-sad in this, this make-makes Hissk happy, broken Scale-thing and bird-thing is good-good, dead scale-thing and bird-thing is better. Grrzzzik no likes how happy Hissk is now, serves coward-thing right!

    Story Four:

Hissk: Dwarf-thing who claim-takes many breeder-things? Hissk almost impressed, Grrzzzik is not-not. Other Dwarf-thing use fire, Hissk no-no like fire, it bad-hurts! Hissk feel bad for fat creepy-thing that gets cook-cooked. Then suddenly scale-things appear. They like creepy-things...Hissk no like creepy-things...

    Story Five:

Hissk: Zlak-thing is old-thing. Grrzzzik feels like old-thing, Hissk dead-dead. Hissk feels like Hissk. Many story-words about Zlak-thing. Many-many-many story-words. Hissk no like story-words, make Hissk head-meat hurt. Maybe Hissk thirsty again? Stupid rat-thing saved dagger-thing until was dying? Why not stab-stab quick-quick? Clever rat-thing make sure-sure have two dagger-things...may-maybe three…

    Story Six:

Hissk: Poopy-head-thing...Hissk like-likes this word-scribble! Hissk must call-name metal arm Nia-meat of lab-place that. Grrzzzik think-thinks is stupid. Hissk no-like coward-thing Grrzzzik. Is all Grrzzzik’s fault! Hissk no think creepy breeder-thing was going to help-save fool horse-thing people. Hissk unsure if is good-good. May-maybe better if more scale-things die-die?

    Story Seven:

Hissk: Feemeer? No-no Hissk never scent-heard of them. Almost remind Hissk of creepy-thing boss Mailill, though Hissk no-think Mailill even ex-exists. Feemeer use-use big word-things, Hissk thinks he no like Feemeer. Seem too clever-smart for own good-good. Old-things maybe do good-good, though Hissk no like them too.

    Story Eight:

Hissk: Scale-thing with strange name-thing reminds Hissk of Hissk. Hissk was trap-trapped too but with no blood-drink. Was long-long time, Hissk sure of it. Grrzzzik think-thinks several lifetimes, but Grrzzzik coward-thing. Hissk no listen to Grrzzzik. Scale-thing sounds strong-mighty and able to kill-slay rat-things with ease. Hissk no like this scale-thing, it might try to hurt-harm Hissk.

    Conclusions:

Hissk: Hissk no know why Hissk brought here and made to stare-stare at evil-bad word-things, Hissk hate-hates word-things. At least some scale-things and other-things die-died, make-makes Hissk feel bit better. Am thirsty now. I hunger...Hissk hungers...*Hiss*

Y'ttar: In all this was another amazing and hard fought story compy. A lot of expertly written pieces that easily rival (or dare I say surpass) GW’s own BL works and their other material. Kudos to all, specially Scalenex for running these competitions! :D

(Kudos to Y'ttar, 'cause Hissk is insane even for skaven standards… :p)

Kudos to @Scalenex . It was a powerful story, and a well deserved victory.

My story, on the contrary, marks the worst result for a story of mine in this competition… but i won the "Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl Comedy Award"!

So, i suppose it's like to play the Premier League, ending as one of the worst team, but to win the League Cup.

    Do you accept suggestions? ;)

Your story was amazing, silly! :D

I really liked the story's secondary theme. It resonated well line from line, and that ending was pretty haunting to be honest.

@Scalenex I didn't want Zlakar to die! But alas, like any up-standing zombiefied lizard, he'll rise from the dead and murmur about brains or something.

Yeah I definitely liked Scalenex’s story best (no offense to anyone else they were all awesome). I really liked to portrayal of the lizardmen in it. Somehow I feel like making them more human adds to them a lot. I’ve always seen them like humans except they are bound to the Slann and the great plan thus their methods and way of life are strange.

Congrats mate! Isn’t that your first win or something (At least first win in a while)?

Victory eluded my grasp once again but I am chuffed to have regained my second place record that I set with my first ever Short Story Contest Entry.

Well done to everyone who took part - you all outdid yourselves on the grimdark!

The contest is so close this contest...I have no choice but to say... EVERYONE WINS THE SCALENEX CUP!

And this isn't like a Participation Trophy, in this case everyone earned the Scalenex Cup.

For years we have kept the pattern of one month entry window, one voting and reading, then one month off. So the next contest will be July-August 2019.
