So at some point I am going to be playing against slaanesh pretty soon, the typical load out with keeper of secrets and other melee heavy stuff. I am running a FoS list (double carno) and I need to know what to expect, and how, if it is at all possible, to counter slaanesh units. Thanks in advance

If you're list is melee focused it's going to be a rough fight. I would try a Doppleganger cloak on your biggest melee hero. I think it could counter for a turn and hopefully you roll well and can take down a Keeper. Our shooting would match up better against Slaanesh, especially Bastiladons. Damage 3 laser beams :) Don't forget to screen well. They are very fast, especially the Seekers.

Actually, I do use a doppelgänger cloak on my Oldblood on carnosaur :D and it was the perfect counter in the brief skirmish, as the carnosaur technically won the fight between it and a keeper (we had an epic brawl for fun). As for Bastiladons, sadly I don’t have any:( but I did just make some razordons which should help.

Me and my opponent both agreed that it was the perfect counter to the keeper of secrets :D

A minimum sized sunclaw can do wonders as well. Since they don't look scary, especially at minimum size, your opponent is liable to ignore em initially which might allow you to catch him by surprise as he pours all his attacks into murdering your big stuff and then your 10 saurus wipe out his death star. Admittadly, that is only going to work once.

Beyond that, has anyone mentioned shooting them with bastiladons yet? :p

In all seriousness, our options for straight up fighting Slaanesh are rather limited.

Yeah, Bastiladons have been mentioned. While they are an excellent idea I don’t have a single beloved turtle so that went out the window. However I did just make a razordon conversion so that is some shooting I can use (6d6 attacks and rerolls hits is scary)

As for my main saurus battleline I do have a lot to work with. 2 units of 10 (clubs) and a unit of 40 (spears). The augments are standard, sunclaw for an extra jaw attack and rend with that damage 2 on chaos daemons, rerolls hits from astrolith and sunblood, extra attacks on 6 from scar vet on carno, -1 to be hit from starpriest and the double damage on 6 to wound, and finally rerolling saves of 1 from cp. hopefully this should be plenty to make most of their units turn tail and run for it :D

mm, just be carefull when fielding a 40 man horde, those will have a massive bullseye painted on them and probably won't even make it into combat.

LoSaT could be helpful, especially in closing distance. The unit has also seen some battle and did gut a vampire lord on zombie dragon in a single turn, so I feel decent in fighting a keeper or large unit. While shooting would be an issue, slaanesh has next to zero, so that should help some.

The issue is slaanesh's ability to go first. Getting into range shouldn't be an issue with LoSaT and Slaanesh's general lack of ranged attacks.

True that, a first turn in combat is something to worry about. I actually had no idea they did that so thanks for the notice :)
    Now to counter that...

Alright: I have been thinking on this. I may not be able to guarantee a first strike, but I can in theory make my retaliation a lot more devastating. Furthermore I could also debuff enemy units with summon starlight which will definitely be helpful. My greatest concern the Keeper of Secrets being knocked down on the damage table and porcupined with a round of shooting from razordons will be a lot less scary. Come the saurus warriors turn to attack I can significantly damage the opposing units

If demons are expected in a lot of the meta, would chameleons maybe be worth taking? I’m thinking you could bring them in behind enemy lines and snipe their heroes easily.

I love Chameleons. They are fantastic at all the things they do. Normally I just summon them on turn one for battleplans like Knife to the Heart, Total Commitment, ect. For 10 points less 2x Razordons will be more consistent damage.

As much as I like chameleon skinks and the stuff they can offer, wouldn’t it make more sense to summon razordons and LoSaT a huge blob of saurus r some other unit onto an objective? I might be missing something here but I am not 100% sold on the chameleons, although they do look cool

Their damage even against daemons isn't really amazing. Especially when the opponent has good saves. They lack rend/mortal wounds, they don't have a high volume of attack & they don't really have acces to any buffs to increase their output in any way. They're stuck with whatever is on their warscroll. They're nice to soften up a target, or finish one off, as they'l fairly reliably will score one or two hits. But they're not going to do much more than that unless you field em in ridiculous quantities. They're more harrasing guerilla fighters withling down an opponent from ambushes over time than they are assasins who burst onto the scene and kill everyone in one flash of violence.

side note tip, avoid multi wound models if you can. slaanesh build summoning off of wounding models that live. if you don't have Bastilodons and their crazy defense and damage agasint chaos, you can try to out horde them. flood the board with one wound models. I know a 40 man warrior group might have a target on it, but the slaanesh player wont get any EXTRA from killing it. this will slow them from reinforcing their ranks. honestly... your absolute non-debatable best model for a slaanseh match up is the Bastilodon. as they are a staple in many competitive lists, it would be in your best interest to get one soon.

side note I have one on the sprue im willing to trade for a Stegadon/EoTG, if you happen to be in America lol

So the only multi wound stuff I do use in my FoS list is my heroes and razordons, the infantry is all one wound. So they would not get any extra off of killing them. With Bastiladons, while it may be a good choice, I would need to re center my army on a Thunderquake, which will be some time but it is something I am planning for the future

You did mention a trade, and while appealing I have some plans for the EotG I am receiving (skink spam, more razordons)
