OK, my club is running a 6th Age Tournament on 12/10, and I'm taking the cold bloods.
I'm hoping not to embarrass myself in terms of game play etc, and maybe even sneak a win, somewhere.
However, realistically, I suspect I'll be aiming at the Wooden Spoon!

The list I'll be taking is as follows:
    2000 Points
    Lord
Old blood, Spawning of Itzl, Cold One
Light Armour, Shield, Aura of Quetzl, Sword of the Hornet
(This gives a 1+ Armour save, a 4++ ward to Str 5+ attacks and Always Strikes First thanks to the sword)

    Heroes
3 x Skink priests, all level 2, each with a dispel scroll
(With no Slann, I've found that with only two priests, magic can be more miss than hit.
Plus three dispel scrolls should let me deal with enemy magic for a couple of turns at least.)

    Core
    3 x 10 skink skirmishers
    (chaff and missile nuisance)

    23 saurus warriors, full command
    (hopefully my anvil)

    Special
7 x Saurus Cavalry, inc Champion
    (a hammer?)

    4 x Kroxigor
    (Another hammer?)

    6 x Chamo skinks
(sniping those war machines/oppo chaff etc early on)

    3 Terradons
(War machine hunters, and nuisance later on)

    Rare
    3 x Salamanders
    (burn baby, burn!)

    Hopefully quite balanced against anyone.

An earlier version had more cold one cavalry (two units of 5) and a scar vet instead of a third priest and no terradons. But that was susceptible to magic heavy armies. Also it could be weak if the hammer / anvil didn't operate well due to terrain etc.

I'll let you know I get on week after the competition.

6th age tournament, wauw, guess the UK is doing some things the good way. Never played 6th, seems crazy strong to be able to take 3 dispell scrolls :p. Good luck!

Wow, haven't heard of one of these for a while :wideyed:

That is a lot of level 2 skinks, but I am guessing it would be too expensive to swap for a slann? I do remember scar-vets on a cold one being pretty good too, but those skink priests are cheap.

    Looks good to me!

If I was running a slann list I would probably have changed out the kroxigors for another unit of saurus, but I tend to favor saurus over kroxigors anyway. With the Oldblood leading the list the kroxigor option makes more sense to me, as they do move a lot faster than the saurus do.

Lots of skinks? Makes sense. Same as the terradons for hunting stuff.

As much as I love stegadons they can be a cannon magnet against certain opponents, not a bad idea to leave them behind for an all-comers list.

Let us know how it goes, and pictures! :snaphappy::snaphappy::snaphappy:

There is something of a resurgence of 6th edition. I must confess, I'd never played it until recently. I played at the very end of 7th and 8th. Never played AoS.
I like the rules, the chargers always hitting first bit is immense for lizardmen, particularly something like kroxigors with 2 handed weapons.

@Warden as just mentioned, something of a resurgence for 6th edition, at least locally. One of the guys that runs my local club has been to a couple and decided to set one up in the club.

A couple of reasons for not using a slann, slann is more expensive, but also I've not painted him yet, whereas the cold one cavalry was virtually finished, so....... Also, when I played 8th, I found I used the slann as a crutch I couldn't drop. I didn't want to get into that situation with 6th. I will get him painted and use him, but for this little tournament, he's not included.

I have run 6th ed lists with old blood and scar vet cowboys, with two skink priests. But the two priests are not quite good enough if someone has any decent magic in their list. Three with scrolls should do a job for me until I get into combat.

I agree on the stegs. I do have a monster mash list, but again painted figures was an issue.

I love the saurus warriors too. Soon I'll have another 25 with spears, plus 30 Temple Guard to go with the 25 HW&S already done. Would love to get them all on the same table, but might not do too well.

I'm testing the list tonight, against Brets. Hoping I can get a charge off with the krox and cold one cav, even better if they can hit a flank! Also praying that I get Urannons Thunderbolt. Should be awesome against those knights!

I'll try and get pics of the tournament but will definitely say how it goes.
