So I have finally got back to my carnosaur! And he is closer than ever to being finished. In fact, I would have finished him tonight but upon looking at the box to try to figure out how to paint his 'toe jam' I noticed there was more gold on his face which I hadn't basecoated, which depressed me. So I still need to put gold areas on, wash teeth and bones, and pick out the eyes. What do you think so far?
Re: More carnosaur pics Looking extremely great so far strewart! Nice bright colours and the shading is excellent. I also like the mouth details and the gums... though I wouldn't like to come any closer to a carnosaur's smile Apart from the details you mentioned and a fitting base it should be good to go in no time.
Re: More carnosaur pics That color scheme really reminds me of the old orange and black flame design on hot rods. The question is, how much horsepower does a carno have?
Re: More carnosaur pics Last picture makes him look like some big Dire wolf.. taking revenge for killing so many squishy ones.. Sounds weird perhaps.. but i like the tongue.. Good Job!
Re: More carnosaur pics Hmm, now that you mention it, I think the tongue could use some better blending. Right now, it's pretty much purple with pink stripes. I don't mind the purple color, but what I do to get mine is Red Gore, Blood Red, Elf Flesh, and then a wash of Leviathan Purple. Hope that helps!
Re: More carnosaur pics Yeah I'm actually not that fond of the mouth, so I was a bit surprised to see so many positive comments about it. It is actually my first attempt at a pink mouth (I normally leave them black, but they are normally a bit smaller. Shadow doesn't work so well for this boy) and I had no idea how to do it. There are actually 4 layers in that mouth, but I guess they didn't really come out all that well in the photo. I think I will just try a bit of a wash over it and see what happens, though the purple might be a bit dark for a wash to show much. Thanks for the positive comments so far. Hopefully it will help put me in a painting mood sooner rather than going another 2-3 weeks without painting at all lol.
Re: More carnosaur pics Wow, that carnosaur is BEAST! (no pun intended) You should use the paint scheme for the carnosaur's scales for the oldblood's shield.
Re: More carnosaur pics THAT IS SO NICE!!! I will still be wishing I could paint like that in some years time
Re: More carnosaur pics looks great! i actually planned to do mine in a similar style just the scales and skin reversed!
Re: More carnosaur pics Who wants to see a bit more carnosaur? Finished the metal areas and minor details, and more importantly added some base work to him. At this stage I will say finished, but I know there is still plenty of room for improvement. I want to do a bit more on the base to make it look more realistic, and I am not happy with the eyes, they just look black unless you directly look at them and the lighting is decent. But whatever. Oh and for some reason I can't get the photos to come out really well... I think the last lot looked better, but these ones have the base done now.
Once again ... Nice job.. A fun base aswell. I don't like it being all shiny.. but thats just me. Good Job!
Love the Carnosaur! and the base is awesome too! Are all of your armies bases like that? because you should do that
Nice, a half metal half flesh behemoth . Really nice, the skin and all looks great, and the base is cool and really fits the model. I agree the eyes need a little improvement to match the quality of the rest of the model, but even though he is not done yet(at least you said he wasn't done yet, with the eyes and stuff, but for me he is more then ready for the battlefield), he is better painted and looks better then I'll ever get a model painted even if i worked on it for 5000 hours!
