up until the point when the slann miscasts and mutilates his own deathstar. i like the idea for this list, but i think it needs something more to make it work. even though im a huge fan of stegadons, i dont think you really need them in this list. for the extra 500 points you could add a beast priest or two (though i dont know if youd have the points with all those scarvets), definitely 10-15 more TG if you really want to emphasize the 'death' in the deathstar, and some fliers for taking out chaff / warmachines. panns pelt, savage beast and wyssans would do incredible things for that unit, so you might want to consider giving the slann lore of beasts
If i remember the rules correctly, it says the slann MUST be put into the front rank if there are less than 5 models with "guardians" special rule? If my memory serves, then that means you wouldn't get most of the scarvets in combat unless you went super-wide. Which is quite ok to do
Some time ago, I was talking with another lizardmen player after a tournament, and talking about hard lists we decided to do something similar, but with a bigger TG and without skavenpelt banner (frenzy fury is your doom agaisnt any experienced player). I can't remember exactly what we fielded, but was something like 31-32TG with Slann, OB and 3-4 Scarvets, I can't remember. He wanted to try Light with this and I stayed High Magic (Question of taste). The rest of the list were various kinds of skinks unit to get as many chaff as we could. That was a mad idea, like the 18 Kroxigor horde he also wanted to play, but I want to remember that he went with a the TG Deathstar to another tournament and it went very well, obvious if you consider that nobody can get point from this kind of list. Just remember that if you try Light, change the gw for halberds in order to gain the I and ASF buffs, cause S6 with AP is in many cases S7. Good luck!
@Cashzombie: That looks similar to a list I saw someone use at a tourney in the UK. He was very successful. IIRC it was Mr Daly
The BRB rules takes care of that... well as long as there are are 5 characters or command in the front rank...
With the scar vets and command pushing the slann to rank two anyway why bother with temple guard at all? By Putting it in a saurus unit will give you more points to get support units, or get more ranks. The tg stubborn is nice but with a unit like this you are not supposed to loose combat anyway. And with all those scar vets the few supporting attacks will not matter that much.
