Hello! I play The Empire of Man. I've played Empire for a long time and I wanted another army so I got Lizardmen today! They have my favourite lore in the whole game, I love toads, dinosaurs and lizards and just the whole concept of them.

I bought my army used but everything has been taken very good care of.

    This is what I got:
Two Slaans, stegadon, 70 Saurus Warriors, 20 temple guard, a skink priest, a Saurus old blood, scar veteran, skink chief 8 cameleon skinks, 16 cold one riders, the prophet of Sotek wizard guy, two swarms, 24 skinks, and a 7th edition Lizardmen codex. I cannot wait to play them and paint them!

The will of The Old Ones will be enacted in my local meta.

oh Branden....I feel so S'y to tell you this, but rumours (remember rumours ARE rumours)
says that Lizardmen is about to be trashcanned for 9th edition, which is less that a half year away by the looks of it.

I must say, that i completely disbelief the notion that Lizardmen in any way are going to be trashcanned, should the worst happen, they'll probably be adopted by forge world or 'summin, or as a another option, be integrated in the "space marine" faction people keep talking about (since i think we all agree it's hinted we're going to space).

    Nice Branden! welcome to Lustria!

Lizards are awesome, and that is quite a collection even though you might want another pack of skinks as to be able to field 4 units (skinks are that good, better in fact).

    A few quick tips.

    1. Don't get fooled, saurus aren't our bread and butter unit. Skinks are.
    2. Saurus do "ok" without buffs, but are likely never gonna truly smash stuff around, buff them, and they shine.
    3. 20 TG are a bit on the short end, but still enough to bunker up your slann, be aware that the slann kills more TG than anything else, so another box of 10 might serve you well if you want them to go into combat, that or life magic.

And of-course there's more, but we'll start of slow ^^

Hope you have a lot of fun with the lizards, and until they do scrap-heap them (again, i doubt they will), just deny it fervently and have fun! :)

Games Workshop has already officially stated many times that no army is going to be removed and not to worry. This was after Bretonnian, Slaven, and Beastmen players were emailing GW saying they're worried so they said nothing is being dropped.

No, rumours OF RUMOURS say we are getting removed. The original rumour (which is at least somewhat legit) says nothing about the removal of armies. It's just people overreacting.

Lizardmen wont be removed. They might be tempoarily unplayable inn 9th if they DO make a complete revamp of the rules, but they wont get removed like the space dwarves did.

I think the most important thing to make clear is HOW you want your army to be. Quick and mobile units favours skink-heavy lists, with cavalry carrying scar veterans, and terradons/ripperdactyls. Slow but heavy favours Saurus and temple guards, coupled with lots of monsters to make the flank charges necessary to get the upper hand against the units you engage.

If you want to be competetive, you go skinks. It's kinda sad for a Saurus lover like me to admit, but if I want to have a solid shot at winning, I take only take a small amount of Saurus, because they are just too inefficient at what they do. Same cost special infantry will beat out our Temple Guard in almost all cases. But that's not why you bring them - You bring them to carry your Slann, providing complete immunity from most things the enemy can throw at him, while being a tough, hard-hitting block that a lot of people will still be afraid of getting their expensive units into combat with.

You want to stick to the minimum core allowance (25% of your total army point alllowance), and that makes it difficult to take both lots of skinks, and lots of Saurus. Saurus NEEDS a large unit to be effective, because initiative 1 means you will be hitting last against anything that don't explicitly Strike Last. This means you often need to go all-in, or don't bother at all. 20 man units of saurus have never worked for me, at least.

    Hello mate!

    Welcome to the community!

I suggest you getting your hands on 2-3 cowboys as soon as you can! Saurus characters on cold ones can devastate while withstanding a lot of pain;) Youll love them, im quite sure! Also, as mantioned above, more skinks! Poison is deadly, youll learn that pretty fast. Big monsters can be killed by 1-2-3 salvo from blowpipes. You have 2 stegadons, wich is great! I suggest you running them as ancient ones, upgraded with sharpened horns. Check our tactica, youll find several good tips how to maximize your performance in battles!

May the Old Ones grant you luck on the battlefield!

    Have they?
    can I have your source?
I know a bunch of people who would be relieved by such a statement.

I hope you know it wasnt to scare you of or anything, I just thought it was pretty damn important
for you to have the info so you could draw your own conclussions from it.

A piece of a piece of pie, is still a piece of pie silver.
What you call overreacting I call valid speculations.
Let people act as they seem fit, and give the information to those who doesn't have it so they can do the same.

    --------------NO MORE OF THAT----------------------------------

    To topic

if you are confident to buy more:

    - 2-3 Mounted Saurus Characters
    - More skinks - the javelin type.
If you ask me blowpibes are for chameleons.

    - Id also say that a minimum of 2 salamanders belong in any collection ^^

If you are playing special characters, you cannot live without Tetto'eko :p (I know I cant)
