    Units n' stuff.jpg Due to legal issues new names have to be invented for most models. Stuff like a Skeleton Archer is obviously not much of an issue, but most of the names of our models are unique so we likely have to go through all of them. Besides we need to rename spells, items, disciplines, special rules etc.

    The models are still the same though, just the names.

    Okay great idea pink! :D

    For saurus warrior and saurus in general:
    Sobekians
    Suchians
    Gators

    I like suchians the best, but Sobekians feels very neat, as well :)

    Maybe gators for kroxigor or giant gators.

    Great initiative taco! I actually helped 9th age with getting the lizardmen book into their "ravening hordes" format.
    So they will need new names, I didnt come up with any, but as a lizardmen community we totally can.
    Some suggestions:

    Reptile = cold-blooded
    Ferocious Fighter = predatory fighter

    Carnosaur = Tyrant Reptile/ theropod/ terror Croc

    Stegadon = spear beast

    Would cold blooded actually need a new name? It's an actual word from the real world :p

    I'll make up a list of names that needs to be converted later. That should make it more simple so we can keep track of them.

    How close are you trying to get to the GW words? As close as possible? Here are my ideas.

    Lustria = Laurasia
    Laurasia being one of the sub continents that made up Pangaea.

    Skink = Skink
    You can use skink right? I think we all know what a skink is.

    Salamander = Salamander
    Again, can GW trade mark that? Do you even want to call them salamanders anyway?
    How about ignisaur, ignosaur, ignusaurs or ignisaurus? It means Fire Lizard.

    Saurus = Sauros
    Sauros is the Greek word for lizard. GW can't trade mark that?
    Honestly, I feel like you'd be safe using the word Saurus. They can't really trade mark it can they?
    Lets play a quick game of fill in the blanks!
    Tyranno_______ Rex
    Stego_______
    Ankylo________
    Spino________
    This could go on for pages.

    or to be on the safe side:

    Saurus = Carnian
    Named after the Carnian age. Which is the age when bipedal dinosaurs first started to appear. I think it's fitting.

    Stegadon = Ceratops
    Named after Ceratopsidae. The group of dinosaurs Triceratops belongs to.

    Carnosaur = Carnotaurus
    Carnotaurus being a real dinosaur. But really, I don't see how GW can even claim rights to Carnosaur at all. It's the name of a novel, film, and a TV series. It comes from the word Carnosauria. Which is a group of Theropods. At the very least it's safe to add "us" to the end and call it a Carnosaurus. Carnosaurus being a generic name used in the scientific community for these dinosaurs, and appearing all over.

    Bastiladon = Thyrosaur
    Bastiladon is probably the coolest name GW has. That said. It's modeled after an armored dinosaur. The real life group for armored dinos is Thyreophora. Which sounds pretty lame. So not much to work with against the coolest name in GW lineup. Possibly Ballistadon. That's what I thought they were called for the longest time. Ha. Kind of fitting for them.

    Trogodon = Noxosaurus Rex
    It means Night Lizard King. Play on Tyrant Lizard King. Also It sounds a bit like noxious implying it's poisonous. IDK. I like it. Also you could drop the Rex and call him Noxosaurus (Night Lizard).

    Terradon = Terrasaur
    Yep. Not that GW came up with Terradon anyway. Pteranodon is the actual dinosaur it's pulled from I think. And Pterosaur is the group Pteranodon and Pterodactyl fall under.

    Cold Ones = Raptors
    Yeah. Pretty generic replacement for a pretty generic name. Or Theropod if you want to sound cooler. It's still a generic name.
    (How about Doofusaurus if you aren't using the Dark elf cold ones?)

    Any good? I could do pretty much the whole book in like 30 mins if you are finding use for any of these.

    I think Danbot has a good point on the trademark stuff. Raptors was the name i was thinking of for cold ones as well.

    Magic items.
    The blade of realities: Blade of the Old ones
    The piranha blade: Blade of many teeth, or insert word at *many*.
    Sacred helm of Itza: Helm of the stampede.
    Skavenpelt banner: Banner of the broken rat, banner of extermination.
    The jaguar Standard: Banner of the hunt.
    Cube of Darkness: Voidcube, cube of the great void.

    I think maybe we should have the names somewhat resemble the current names e.g. Karnosaurus as swedish comp have already come up with. It differs from Carnosaur, but we all know what it is.

    The alternative though is to come up with names, that just flat out makes sense, aren't long and something all people can recognize e.g.T-rex and Raptor.

    Or a mix of the above.

    Just a thought. I'm not the boss so I don't dictate it XD

    Somewhat tacky, but how about:

    Lizard Ancient = Oldblood
    Lizard Veteran = Scar Vet
    Lizard Warrior = Saurus Warrior
    Lizard Guard = Templeguard

    Raptor Rider = Cold One Rider
    Karnosaurus = Carnosaur
    Troglosaurus = Troglodon
    Salamander = Salamander

    Premium Frog = Slann :spiderman:

    Tacky yes but I like it. Maybe Lizard Guardians instead of lizard guard. Why i like it: LM can't really speak except some grudging and clicking sounds. These names are names from the perspective of for example humans and I see humans describing our lizards as well... lizards... Also Caprasauridae's lizardlings for skinks seems nice..

    Lizardlings for Skinks is OK with me.
    (But since "Skink" is an ordinary word, why bother?)

    Krocsigator or Kroxigator if the second spelling is not too close.

    I wasn't aware that Skink is the actual name of the real world species so that shouldn't be a problem, however cameleon skinks is maybe a bit too much so how about skink hunters?

    Lol, "Skink survivors"...

    Kroxigator sounds good, but might be a little bit too close to the original name. How an approach from another angle. Something like Croxysaur or Crocodon?
