Hi guys, I've been away from WHFB for ages (since 2014). But I'm going to start playing again with 9th age as it really does look like an excellent rule base. Anyway... I have a 9th age tournament at the end of the year - main thing is just to have fun, but would be good to take a semi-competitive list with me. I've thrown together a couple of list ideas. I'm going to need to buy quite a few models for either list, so would be good to put together a 'definitive' list I can work towards for the end of year tourney. Can anyone who is familiar with 9th age give me some critiques and perhaps point out which list (if either) I should work towards building... List one Lord - Cuatl Lord (general), BSB. 320pts Hero - Saurian Veteran, Spear of the Stampede, Carnosaur. 255pts Core - Saurian Warriors (x28), FC. 313pts Core - Saurian Warriors (x24), Spears, FC. 317pts Special - Skink Hunters (x8), Chameleon, Champion. 102pts Special - Skink Hunters (x8), Chameleon, Champion. 102pts Special - Temple Guard (x30), FC. 460pts Special - Thyroscutus. 130pts Rare - Weapon Beast (x2), Spearback. 120pts Rare - Taurosaur. 200pts Rare - Stygiosaur, Champion. 175pts List Two Lord - Saurian Warlord (general), Carnosaur, Spear of the Stampede. 300pts Lord - Skink High Priest, Level 3, Taurosaur, Sharp Horns, Ancient Plaque. 440pts Hero - Saurian Veteran, BSB, Axe of Battle, Light Armour, Hardened Shield. 155pts Core - Saurian Warriors (x35), Spears, Totem Animal Serpent, FC. 495pts Core - Skink Braves (x15), Short Bow, Musician. 95pts Core - Skink Braves (x15), Short Bow, Musician. 95pts Special - Skink Hunters (x8), Chameleon, Champion. 102pts Special - Skink Hunters (x8), Chameleon, Champion. 102pts Special - Thyroscutus, Altar of the Snake-Gods. 145pts Special - Skink Sky-Riders (x3), Shield, Champion. 125pts Rare - Weapon Beasts (x2), Spearback. 120pts Rare - Weapon Beasts (x2), Spearback. 120pts Rare - Stygiosaur, Champion, Predatory Roar. 200pts I think the second list would be more fun - don't know how competitive either would be. There are definitely some units in both lists I want to include (the weapon beasts, the chameleons, the taurosaur/stygiosaur/carnosaur/etc). Any ideas / comments?...
What path will you be using? Think alchemy would be a nice fit asyou might struggle against high ar.our...and saurians love those blades! I think your second list looks more fun and also stronger.
Cheers, yeh I'm definitely leaning towards the second list, I think it will be much more fun to play with. For magic on the 2nd list I was thinking wilderness for the priest. It would be handy having two spell casters with wilderness, even if the stygiosaur rider only gets sig spell and the bolt thrower (which IMO are both excellent spells). The signiture spell will definitely be handy cast on the saurus block (strength 5 and 3 points of armour piercing), not to mention the toughness boost. Looking forward to throwing down 4 dinosaurs on the board though...... Can never have too many dinosaurs......
I think you need alternatives to thst block reaching combat. With two wildernes sigs your opponent knows!
