Hi guys! I will playing versus Tomb Kings this week, 1000pts 6th scenario of the General Handbook. The one with 2 comets crashing on the battlefield on turn two. We will be playing on a 42”X42” table. Here is the list I was thinking about: 10 Saurus guards 200pts 10 skinks 80pts 10 Saurus wariors 100pts 10 skinks 80pts 5 Chameleons 120pts 1 Saurus Sunblood 120pts Artefact : +1 damage to a melee weapon 1 Bastiladon 300pts The idea was to secure the objective on my side with the Saurus wariors. Take the fight in the middle with the Saurus guards, Sunblood, Bastiladon a bit behind to stop a charriot unit and fire at the hero during the shooting phase. The skinks are here to score the opposite side objective at least twice, and Chameleons if my opponent put a screaming skulls catapult. What do you think?
I'm afraid I'm super rusty on the GH's scenarios, but just looking at your list in isolation it is absolutely in need of some form of magic user. A skink starpriest would work wonders in here, and is an absolute steal for 100pts. The dilemma then is what to drop for it- normally I would argue against Guard because of the prevalence of mortal wounds, but off the top of my head there's nothing in TK's that can reliably spit those out. Because of this, you could feasibly drop a unit of Saurus Warriors to replace with the starpriest, so it can make your guard even harder to kill. It does dramatically drop your model count, but in a low point game (and against TK's) you could absolutely get away with it. Beyond that, I feel you have a decent mix of Anvil (Guard), Hammer (Bastiladon) and Precision Tools (Cham Skinks), you should match up well with whatever your opp brings. Just a word to the wise when playing against Death- kill the heroes asap, they are dramatic force multipliers and the rest of their army will cease to function without them. Cham skinks are *great* at this. Best of luck!
I think I would drop the Saurus warriors for a a Starpriest as InfamousBeany. I have played two matches with that little runt and I won't be leaving home without it. +1 Save for your Guard or Bastiladon or a d3 Mortal wounds are really usefull. With de 20 skinks and 10 guards you still have more bodies than my 1k army
Victory for the Seraphons! I played yesterday night, the game went well, except the Starpriest died T1...(Forgot that the Scorpions can appear 6" from any unit and not 9"...) The Chameleons did their job killing a lich priest on T1 and delayed the move of a 30 skeletons pack. Lucky I took the fight with Bastiladon and Saurus guards in a terrain to compensate the loss of the Starpriest. The 30 skeletons killed just one Guard and did 2 wounds to the Bastiladon.
Sounds good! At least the starpriest Kept those scorpions busy for a turn Good tactics also to use the terrain.
I would never have brought 200 pts of Guards in a 1000 pts game against TK... but as TK player, I also would have never brought 30 skeleton warriors So, kudos for your victory!
Grats on your win! Just played a 1000 point objective game today and got a major victory with this. Both saurus w/ wardrums and skinks move quickly to take objectives, hard to kill them all haha! 40 Saurus warriors 40 Skinks 1 Starseer 1 Salamander 1 Skink Chief
both were units of 40. There were three objectives, so I was comfortable swarming just 2 of them and getting my victory points. Both saurus and skinks get pretty nice bonuses with 30+ models as well.
Smart thinking! Skinks are really effective in groups of 40, especially with a skink chief as the general.
