    Hi skinks and slanns,

I'm brand new to AoS and you know I had to pick those magic space dinos as my first army. But I could really use some help figuring out how to build and grow my list. I don't have a regular gamng group so it should probably be an all comes kind of list, and ideally I'd like to Target a 1k point army that I could scale up to 2k points as I make progress on painting.

Right now I have the starhost battleforce box and the Malign Sorcery box to work with. I'm thinking the next thing I should get would be a slann since most lists seem to center around him, but ideally I'd like to incorporate all of the models I already have into my lists before going out and buying more.

So what would you wise space wizards recommend for a 1000 point list, and what should I add once those are painted to move up to 1500 pts and ultimately 2000?

    Welcome to Lustria online.

This is the list I use for 1k. Razordons can be tricky to get a hold of though:

    Allegiance: Seraphon
    - Mortal Realm: Ghur

    LEADERS:
    Skink Starpriest
    (80)
    - General
    - Command Trait : Master of Star Rituals
    - Artefact : Gryph-feather Charm

    UNITS
    6 x Ripperdactyl Riders (280)
    40 x Skinks (240)
    - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
    10 x Skinks (60)
    - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers
    4 x Razordons (160)

    BATTALIONS:
    Shadowstrike Starhost
    (180)

    TOTAL: 1000/1000
    EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 1
    WOUNDS: 84

For 1500 add a Slann and some additional skinks, heroes, or endless spells

    I hope this was helpful!

Yep, that list is pretty strong.
What i don't like it's that it's almost a one-trick pony, so it may be boring after a while, but nonetheless it's a good starting point .

Thanks, that looks pretty doable! Although I'd like to get my carnosaur and/or bastilodon involved. Are they only doable at 2000 points and greater?

Also, are chameleon skinks any good? I have found a couple of decent deals for them on eBay.

Last question for now - summoned units don't count against your army points value, right? So essentially I can summon whatever I want as long as I have the models and my wizard has the summoning points?

    Exactly.
Summon lets you bypass also the limitations for matched play (for example you can summon a third behemoth in a 1000 pts game).
However, if the opponent kills the summoned units, those are valid kill points if the match ends in a tie for objectives.

They are fantastic. However, don't expect them to kill much.

From a game perspective they can help you rack up some wins though. You can ambush them into combat while in cover to tie things ups. I have been able to ambush them onto the corners of horde units more than once while just within 3" to make the enemy pile in less effective. If the enemy retreats to disengage you can repeatedly tie them up. If you have two units of Chameleon skinks you can pin two opposing corners of their horde which is devastating if they are in a congo line.

So, while it can be hard to fit 10 of them into a list, they are non the less extremely potent tools even if they aren't overly killy for their point cost.
