Looking at running Thunderquake for a GT coming up in 3 weeks. @LizardWizard knows what I'm talking about lol. I've run Shadowstrike up until the most recent GHB and I have started trying out the TQ. I love it. With Seraphon shenanigans and a healthy amount of big dinosaurs its become very fun to play. I have been trying to tweak things around and i think I have come up with something that I really like. It isn't perfect cause its not running as many razordons as possible haha, but its fun for me and thats important too. After a few practices and lots of theorycrafting this is what I have come to so far. . . Allegiance: Seraphon Mortal Realm: Shyish Slann Starmaster (260) - General - Trait: Great Rememberer - Spell: Celestial Apotheosis Engine of the Gods (240) - Artefact: Ethereal Amulet Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160) - Artefact: Incandescent Rectrices Skink Starpriest (80) Skink Starpriest (80) 10 x Skinks (70) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (70) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (70) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 6 x Kroxigor (300) Bastiladon (280) Stegadon (200) Thunderquake Starhost (120) Prismatic Palisade (30) Soulsnare Shackles (40) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 103 I'm at work so I can't talk too much but I will come back and update on all my thoughts. Any thoughts you have right now are more than welcome.
I like the list. You should do very well vs horde units and any Deamons. How do you plan to kit your Steggy?
I like the inclusion of the shackles. I also use them frequently myself and they can be a huge factor against armies that rely on moving quickly.
I like the list I have been toying with breaking up the double bastilidon thunderquake I usually run for awhile. What lore spells are you taking? Also love seeing Kroxigor used!!
I think I plan to run the bow on the stegadon. Mostly because as you said I've already got quite a bit to deal with hordes, and I feel like the meta for the tournament is going to be really balanced between horde and elite armies. I had 70 points left over and wanted to include the purple sun, but I didnt want to risk spending all those points on something that might not work. I love that we can now LoSaT a starpriest, drop off an endless spell, and bring him back to safety without worrying about leaving them stranded. I figured against armies that dont fly much the shackles and palisade would be the perfect board control and against some armies can be a real big middle finger if you drop a wall of light and/or shackles in front of them. The only reason why I am running the steg is the 80 points for a second starpriest. With my endless spell drop off strategy above I still want someone to be able to fire off a 32" horse killer or elite killer spell. I'm thinking I will run one with each. It's either that or both running the stellar tempest to be sure I don't lose out on it. I've always loved the idea of kroxigor and I'm making my own conversions right now.
Not to press too much @RageCage but I haven't even tested the list yet hahaha. Do you have any extra insights into running the list? What mission did you play? How did you set up? What did you focus on while playing? What's your bank account routing number? Did you feel like the list lacked anything? Anything that really scared you against slayers? Where do babies come from? Anything from other top lists you'd be scared of?
@SkinkBait I plan to bring my Khrone to the Primer on the 20th. If you go hopefully we will get to play vs each other and I can give you more in depth insights on your list.
Lol it was a test game and I ran it mostly like I would any standard TQ list since I didn't have a good reference point. I ended up pushing the steg and Kroxigor up a bit and screen/objective grab with the skinks. The mission was one of the new ones from the GHB19. I'll have to look it up in the book again to remember which one. Honor fields or something like that. We rolled it up. My focus during the game was allowing each of the units to fight as best I could what they were meant to/good at dealing with. The only thing against Slyers that scared me was some tunneling shenanigans but I have played them enough to screen with skinks well. Plus without all their crazy saves they aren't as scary. Still worried about Slaanesh but I just need practice against them. Hope that helps and I answered all the "relevant" Questions. lol
That's what he used but it felt not as strong. Maybe it was just what I was using against it. Also -3 rend on the horn attacks with the Stegadon at full health are no joke.
you just have to make sure you attack the hearthguard before they do and not the other way around. a group of ten will throw 21 attacks that each can do 2 mortals on a 6+ to hit AND continue the attack sequence, each has 2 wounds, and 2" reach, and they have a 5+/4FNP if a hero is within 10"... usually I run a rune smiter with them to give them +1 to their saves.... (Fyreslayers is my second Army)
