it's why i'm so harsh with GW it wouldn't take all that long to do. change the material used and reformat the spruse to work better with plastic i could do it in an hour. and we have seen complete ranges come out in like 8 months from very small shops like lost world. i understand they still have stock that they need to get rid of but at this point it's diminishing returns.

I'm not going to pretend that I know the full workings of GW's development process for its products. With that in mind, if there is to be a Seraphon release as rumoured later this summer, the process has likely been in the works for at least a year or so and, unlike a lot of the small shops that are just supplying the models, GW also has to fuss over illustrated rulebooks and gaming supplies to go with the models, not to mention limited retail space in their stores to actually feature the new stuff when it finally comes out. Even with concurrent ranges on the go, this means that any given range awaiting release is likely to be backlogged further.

It's not ideal, but it's what we have to work with at the moment.

they only have to worry about rules if we are getting them i would love a new rule book but they could do a lot to placate us by switching to plastic showing us that our faction hasn't been abandoned. they wouldn't even have to worry about shelf space out side of our starter box i haven't seen any of our stuff on shelves if they just started sending plastic models instead of finecast it would do a lot to build goodwill.

I would Be happy if they took the Total War lizardmen assets and then imported them into the 3D modeling software they used now and just made those the new models. Stuff is amazing as is.

meh, should still be easy compared to making them from scratch. They have models, they have software to pose them in. As long as those can be exported it to the program they use it should be doable-ish. Though the legal issues alone are probably more than enough to negate any real advantage.Plus you know, what's the changes the two programs are actually compatible :p

    Details might be a problem.
When producing plastic minis you have to keep your material in mind.
Digitally you can build tiny details without any problems.
But when making them out of plastic some details of the 3D models would flow into each other, and similar stuff.
So you might need to rework them, and you would also have to split them into pieces so they fit into sprues and the liquid plastic can reach all the parts. All that jazz. It isn't that easy.

True, but they do already have a complete skeleton for the model as well as being able to allow it to pose in whatever position. Getting the model to stand in such a way that you can make sprues out of it should be relativly easy. It should save some time.

The details are iffier though, especially as it's entirely possible that at least some of those are essentially nothing more than a fancy paintjob and the actual model is just flat.

Admittadly, it's entirely possible that all this does is turn a job that'd normally take a week into a job that now takes 3 days. So it's not like it's suddenly super simple. But it definitly should give an advantage if those 3D models can actually be used.

What’s more, I’ll absolutely take that as a direction for our Saurus! They look far more in keeping with the carno-riders and sunblood.

They won't drop Seraphon. We're pretty popular in the tournament scene, we got a new box during Christmas of last year, and some juicy spell lore in the latest rule book. I suspect we're near last on the list for updates. It's frustrating, but I still think we'll see something this year.

i didn't know about the Christmas box and without that it had been 4 years since the last update. that paired with the lack of us in any of the side games had me worried but with this latest news i'm content to keep waiting might even expand my army a bit.
