Do you think this list could work? I haven´t pick artifacts or spells yet Allegiance: Seraphon LEADERS Slann Starmaster (260) - General - Command Trait : Great Rememberer Lord Kroak (430) Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160) Skink Starpriest (80) Knight-Incantor (140) - Allies UNITS 20 x Skinks (140) - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (70) - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (70) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 6 x Ripperdactyl Riders (280) BATTALIONS Shadowstrike Starhost (180) ENDLESS SPELLS / TERRAIN Purple Sun of Shyish (50) Balewind Vortex (40) Everblaze Comet (100)
Looks fun. So many mortal wounds. I am not convinced that Kroak + Slann is tournament viable, but it could probably go 3 and 2 depending on match ups. Purple Sun is quite playable now.
Let us know how it went I live in a small town and the players here are more interested in 40k. So I will probably not get to try my list any time soon.
Ive tried the list now, it ended up in a major loss. I faced a pretty tough skaven list with 120 plague monks, but I still felt there was a chance to win. The big thing that cost me the game was that Kroak failed to cast most of his spells, even with +2 to cast, only managed to cast 4 during the entire game. And I was pretty unlucky in that all objectives landed in the middle (starstrike).
Had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago but in a 2vs2 match. Kroak failed almost all of his spells, 8+ with +2 to casting went off sometimes but 9+ and 10+ not even once. And in some turns I had - 1to cast from Khorne. I think against low model count armies like SCE this build can be viable, but with some matchups it is not as efficient as other armies offensive magic. Especially with that price tag on it. I like your Shadowstrike attempt tho, would have needed that too.
Yeah you might be better off with 2 EoTGs than Kroak. Kroak is in a tough spot. Double Eotg gives you the chance for double d6 mortals. Even though its not 100%reliable at least you still have the summoning upside. Kroak doesn't have upside when his casts dont go off and thats so many ponts. I also think Shackles goes great with Comet
I have played slan + kroak build and i smashed them. Slann Kroak Astrolith Oldblood carno Scarvet on co Skink starpriest 3x 5 knights Batalions: firelance and dracothian tail Cogs bwv pendulum if there is some free points purple sun Artefacts from shadow realm and vast intelect or arcane mighty
My take on this list was to go with: Kroak Slann Astrolith Bearer EotG EotG Knight-Incantor (Allies) 10 Skinks 10 Skinks 10 Skinks Everblaze Comet Balewind Vortex Purple Sun Chronomantic Cogs Aethervoid Pendulum Played against a DoK army with Morathi and 90 or so troops. Lost at the end but it was a close call. Engines pumped out Skinks and the Slann had summoned two Bastiladons by the end of the game so summoning worked very well. The only problem was I could not challenge objectives until too late and I lacked a credible threat to my opponent's backfield. On that regard, your list seems better since it has the Shadowstrike Rippers. What I can recommend is that you can reduce the 20 Skinks to 10 (-70pts) and replace the Knight-Incantor with its cheaper cousin Lord-Exorcist (-20 pts) so you can grab the Chronomantic Cogs (+80pts) and maybe a triumph. I know the Incantor is better but I think you really need the Cogs in a summon oriented list, not just for the extra spell but also the ability to grant +2 to charges when you really need that teleporting unit to charge.
Kroak + slan list must be with dracothian tail to take control over battlefield. I would take oldblood on carno to make enemy think twice before attack
