Kharadron are still a very new army with high-quality and up-to-date sculpts. They don't really need anything else at this point. I can't speak for Tzeentch - their update was underwhelming as well, although from what I hear they are very powerful.

And I'm actually kind of 'meh' about the Ziggurat, and about faction terrain pieces in general (it looks like the leftovers of my Seraphon bits box with an endless spell glued on top). It irks me that I'm supposed to believe that either every faction drags a clearly immovable terrain feature with them to every fight, or that every time two armies clash there are conveniently placed landmarks specific to each army involved. GW have tried to explain this away as "Oh, the Slaughterpriests just summon the Skull Altar out of the ground" or "Oh, the Fyreslayers just summon their forge out of the ground", but it just comes across as lazy.

Considering myself lucky for receiving a plastic pyramid I never wanted would be consumerism of the foulest kind.

It seems you stole my words, wanted to say the same...

On the other hand, let's be optimistic! Given the fact that a lot of new stuff was showed at Las Vegas... I want to think there is still more stuff for us and they did not want to saturate the event :p

If only GW would release some non faction specific terrain pieces. At the moment it feels like each battle represents a faction in its entirety and includes both side's complete territory.

How about a house. Not a rune covered masterpiece, but a house. That people live in. Regular people of their species.

    Just a thought.

Seraphon actually has an advantage in this department given that they fly around in hovering Aztec pyramids - in this case they airdrop the scenery piece in! ;)

At lest that pyramid is a piece of terrain that can be used as "mundane" building even if you're playing 8th.

But we can build that terrain ourselves cant we? Not everything has to be released by GW, sure it would be nice, but the look and style of some things I like to chose myself.

literally the only vaguely neutral piece of terrain GW has ever released are the Rohan houses. Basicly everything else is covered in runes, skulls, spikes etc. and either clearly belongs to a certain faction, or just doesn't work with some factions.

Also, crafting an entire building yourself, especially when you're new to this, is several steps to far. It'd be nice if they had some ready-made neutral (or at least neutral-ish) terrain.

Crafting an entire bulding is no easy task for sure. But then it is not a beginner project I'd say, and everything is hard when you're new.

As I said it sure would be nice if there was more neutral terrain available but all of it would have that distinct GW look to it, and matching that would be even harder for a beginner or anyone for that matter.

The Azerite ruins are fairly neutral, since their ruins. Course they did once belong to sigmarites, but that could be said of the majority of the ruins in the realms.

Chaos is also the most plentiful faction, so where is their mundane terrain? I'd like to see Chaos longhouses, tents, small bits and the like that aren't completely covered in spikes and skills.

But if you really want mundane that isn't covered in GW trademarks, I'd look at Mdf terrain. Especially some of the wild Western or some Fantasy European terrain that can be found.

Not expecting to put krox-size stuff on it. As long as a liberator can go on it without looking ridiculous it's fine :p

A distinct GW look is fine, but it could at least look neutral human-ish, or neutral elvish, or neutral destruction-ish etc. As opposed to having big giant sigils of sigmar on it or a mark of khorne.

They're still fairly distinctly sigmarite & of course it's only ruines. But yeah, the ruins are probably the most "neutral".

They should make some neutral terrain for each grand allegiance, and maybe for certain races (e.g. order human townhouses and order aelven townhouses) or types of society (e.g. nomad-tents, townhouses, longhouses, etc.)

I just want some stuff that doesn't explicitly show an allegiance. And thus can be used how you like. PLus you can always put on some markings yourself. Everyone has a giant box of leftover bits anyway, can't be too hard :p

Anyone got theories on what the ziggurat could do? I’m guessing it will function similarly to the engine of the gods in summoning more units but also shooting out some mortal wounds. It might also be used as some kinda fall back structure where we can move units into it.

I agree, that it can be difficult to manage frustrations given how long we've waited. That being said, realistically, none of us actually have any idea what the new rules are going to look like, so we oughtn't make a decision on how we feel about the new battletome emotionally before we actually not only read the rules, but try them out for ourselves to see if we like them. Anything beyond that runs the risk of an uninformed decision on how we think we should feel emotionally, and that can be unhealthy <: j

If the battletome sucks, if it's amazing, or if it's middle of the road, we'll find out in time. It's fun to speculate, it's fun to hope, and it's reasonable to temper one's expectations with skepticism. But we shouldn't let how we feel now distort our perspective when we actually get the rules for ourselves; otherwise, if you've already made the decision to be disappointed, anything will disappoint you.

I don't mean to come down on anyone. I just want us all to have clarity and perspective as we approach the next new piece of a hobby that we love and recognize its flaws and merits for what they are <3

    Completely fair assessment.

I'm just waiting to gloat after we get a good Battletome and a new Sauras SC, ES, alongside the terrain.

    Stars prove me right. T.T

That would be an amazing scenario <3. Just don't let your hope for it spoil what gets released if it's not what you expected <: j

Looks like GW lost their steam after Fyreslayers. I think, their battletome was the last to recieve both not-at-all-endless-spells and terrain piece. After them only OBR got both, but they are the new faction, so makes sense.

I can't be neither optimistic or pessimistic about new battletome. There are both good and bad omens. It can go absolutely anywhere from complete non-playable trash to the new top meta. I don't have a slightest clue about what to expect and that's why I cannot wait for news.

It can aslo give rerolls around it and/or casting bonuses or be used as another summoning beacon. But what I like most about it is that it will 100% grant cover for Slann even upon the balewind.

That’s mostly a money thing. Gotta milk the sylvaneth players for everything they own. Sure you don’t “have” to buy the new trees, but they are so much better because you can take 3 small ones and fit the forests into tight spaces. Basically have to go with the new ones if you want to be competitive.

I haven't made a decision to be disappointed. If our power level remains as it is currently I will be perfectly fine. My local meta is pretty soft, and even though my total games played in AoS just barely reached double digits, I am doing really well.

What I am is worried. That's a big difference ;)

In regards to the terrain, I'd say some kind of summoning within 9", and/or buffs for a Slann if he is near it. Some buffs for units wholly within whatever distance could be neat, but not counting on it.

That tree terrain has given me a nice idea how to do it myself, its a nice solution.
